Wierd LCD TV Issue

So having just moved into a new flat, I decided I'd treat myself to a new TV to put in it. Ended up purchasing a Digimate LTV-3204H 32" HDTV for a reasonable £300 from eBuyer. Happy days.

It worked fine out of the box... for the first 5-10 minutes at least. Then the screen suddenly switched to a very bright, pinkish-tint picture, similar to what happened the last time I kept my PC's VGA cable too close to my speakers on a long car journey. Only this wasn't a slow, gradual thing. It literally just seemed to switch over to this ghastly effect.

And it wasn't permanent. After a hectic 15 mins trying to figure out if I pressed a button or something, I turned it off. A little while later I turned it on again, and everything was fine. Then, on the 7-8 min mark, it did the same thing.

Experimenting this weekend (since Digimate's helplines are down over the weekends), I have discoved that my TV always does this, every time, without fail. It's not one of the inputs, since all channels are equally effected, and I've watched it happen when nothing's connected to it at all (blue screen until suddenly bright white). Something in that damn machine is deliberatly messing itself up.

Any ideas what this could be? I've called Digimate today, and they've said they'll replace it for me (once their website will accept my warranty registration), but they didn't know what was wrong (although maybe it's policy not to admit the details of faults like this. Less expensive for them to just replace I suppose). It means going a week without it after they pick it up, but I can live with that. Mostly I just want to know what the hell's going on with it.
