Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of WalMartazan
Talk about fucking ridiculous. The area of all the wal marts in the world added up is considerably larger than that of manhattan. spoiler for large chart
reminds me of that snl or mad tv sketch about getting lost in walmarts
Edward R. Tufte would have a few things to say about the implications of implied volume and dimension on that graph. The third dimension seems slightly misleading in a quantitative sense.
Either way
I was quite surprised to see that Blockbuster accounts for so much of the square footage. Although, given that there are two within a block of each other in my home town, perhaps I should have sensed it...
this graph doesn't seem to take into account that one wal-mart is about 10 times bigger than any of those other places
yes it does
it shows you how many of each store there are and the total acreage of each chain
if there are about 1/5 as many Wal-Marts as there are McDonaldses but Wal-Mart has a way bigger total area, you should be able to figure out on your own that each Wal-Mart is gigantic

Their chicken nuggets are quite good.
WalMartazan sounds like a lovely place to visit on vacation.
Except In and Outs. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'd move back to California just for that fast food joint.
it can be a wonderful experience.
I mean the place sucks dick, but you can get away with anything.
I've been trying to reach you, but your extension cord doesn't reach that far.

That's the thing; I don't think I've seen a Blockbuster where I currently live for like many miles around.

Yeah, I know this place pretty good, I went to law school here.

The fries are hit or miss. But when they're good, golden brown and crispy, they're really good.
And I think out of the big 3 (at least around here, McDonald's, BK, and Wendy's) Wendy's has the best tasting and best made burgers.
or Taco Bell.

edit- also Burgerville is pretty awesome
although I have not yet had the pleasure of an In N Out burger
Wal-Marts always seem to be dimly lit and smell like old people
Then you'll hate the fact that people bought 57 million dollars worth of Sarah Jessica Parker's shitty perfume last year...
the graph really ought to compare similar establishments, such as Target and Fred Meyer's
range in size from 98,000 square feet to 261,000 square feet
with an average size of approximately 197,000 square feet
2326 X 197,000 = 458,222,000.
yes.

I don't think they're regional
but I'm not sure
so while wendy's has the most establishments, they are the smallest
Their name varies by location like Vons and Safeway
Down in southern California, Fred Meyer is Ralphs or Food4Less
It's a huge fucking grocery store
but it's all linear
shopping on rails
one aisle that twists and turns and takes you to all the different sections
it is wonderful
I would hole up there and live there
zombie outbreak blah blah blah obligatory Dead Man's Road mention blah blah blah
I had to bone Shoe for that
Well you could just go to the bikes section and ride around the store
also, dudes, Stew Leonard's is the best
