My videos are all gray, no matter how many codecs I install.

Yeah, title pretty much says it all. My videos were working fine, except some taht I didn't have the codec for. I'm not sure what exactly happened, but somehow in the intervening period all my videos are now playing all gray. Colorless and barely distinguishable. What happened H/A?

This happened to me, but only with AVI's running in Windows Media Player...they play fine in my DVD playing program, and VLC.

Nope, no matter what program I use, no matter what extension, my movies are gray and washed out. What should I do? Uninstall all codecs then reinstall them? Install something else? I'm at a loss.

New development: I turned video acceleration off, and then it plays okay for a little bit (read: two seconds) but then goes back to gray. Also, the audio is grainy and washed out.
