I want to be more bendy

I'm looking for some advice on becoming more flexible; as flexible as possible. Ya see, my legs are very inflexible, and sometimes they hurt because of it. Personal health and well being aside, I am also persuing a career in variety entertainment. Being more flexible will also lead to more and better work, esentially.

Amazon seems to have alot to offer by way of instructional DVDs.

Google has even more to say, so why bother posting links.

I know stretching multiple times a day is pretty much key, but what stretches, what order, etc. I can hold positions that cause a stretch for X amount of time, but there has to be something better than figuring it out as I go.

So, fellow Arcadians, what are your suggestions for increasing my flexibility as much as possible, in all aspects of my body?

    Yoga.

I get a sore back sometimes, and someone recommended yoga to me. After 2 months, only doing about 90 minutes a week, I noticed I was way more flexible. (It also helped with my back).

Were you in a class, following a DVD, going from a book?

A class, though it was pretty casual, only a half dozen people in it to start.

I think you'd be alright doing it yourself from a dvd or book, but I found the classes helpful. Having someone tell you what you're doing wrong/how to improve the pose is a lot easier than trying to decide for yourself if you're actually doing what the dvd is telling you, and he should be able to recommend some poses to you to target specific areas, like your legs.

With an experienced instructor - would be best.

Taking some as part of school right now. Definitely pushes the limits of your flexibility in a multitude of areas.

    :winky:

Don't start out too cavalierly. Substantial flexibility is something built gradually- it is a very tenuous and difficult process. Jumping the gun will just cause an unwanted injury that will slow your progress.
