So tonight I saw the play, "Master Class" which is based on Maria Callas and her legendary master classes. It was quite phenomenal, but depressing because, well, her life kinda sucked. There was some great acting and some very... um... characterful singing. Anyone see anything good at the theater lately?
The singing was good and people played their parts well. Sophie Whatsherface (the first student) had some awful vowels, but she fit the part really well.
I have the lead male role in the play Radium Girls right now. It's surprisingly well-written for a contemporary play that no one has ever heard of. All about the radium-paint scandal of the 20s.
Last year I did chorus work in L'enfants et les sortileges by Ravel and it was awesome. I'll probably do some more chorus work this year too but next year I'm sure I'll have some role of significance. Wooo.

Our school isn't classy enough to do shit like this. It's all Wayside story this, Caesar that...
Oh another really good play is Bach at Leipzig. It's basically about how this young nobody named Bach came in and got this amazing job at the big cathedral in Leipzig in a huge upset. The whole first half of the play is based off of a six-voice fugue. Oh, and they really milk the fact that almost all the big composers at that time were named either Johann or Georg.

Awesome. Most of my Opera work has been character roles, so I'm excited to get a chance to do chorus work with a bigger company in the spring.

Ahh... well... see, I am in University for music (voice) and we do have an Opera class. The class is supposed to just be for third years, but I volunteered last year because, well, I'm a guy and they need guys.

They did a pretty good job of it.
its about the FBI shooting terrorists. its an enjoyable romp.
i thought the singing was fine
That'd be interesting to see how they could pull something like that off.
I saw that on video
It was really awful
Maybe it was funnier live
But what I saw, terrible

Blew me the fuck away.
And I auditioned for Anything Goes, cast list goes up tommorrow.
but there are apparently plenty of plays and such around here
Acting, dudes, its what I do.
dogg, the version of les miz i saw was a high school production and it was fan-fucking-tastic
of course, all of the actors in the production were also part of a theatre troupe, it was like a partnership thing
but holy hell, it was great
e: and i played Jacob in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
it was a fun musical
like I saw charlie and the chocolate factory
it was okay and I got a wonka bar out of it
but they shoved musical numbers into it from the movie and they definitely weren't supposed to be there
It wasn't amazing or anything.
But they did a good job, and it was pretty funny.
They managed to wrangle a bunch of the audience and they did a really good job in getting the audience laughing.
I went with a bunch of friends and we had a blast.
The play itself was meh.
that is to say the stage performance
not the film
might go see the film too

Nah, but they did have a working chocolate river pipe thing for Augustus to get sucked up into.
And when the school did Wizard of Oz they had some of the original Munchkins come into town
It was basically the most extravagant thing my high school has ever done
