So last night my phone decided to ignore me. That is to say, all of the buttons except for one of the outside side buttons (the "voice memo" ones) just doesn't respond to anything I do. I watched helplessly as someone tried to call me and, despite my furious tapping of the "talk" button, I "missed" the call.
It was working fine last night when I was with a bunch of friends and we were cooking dinner, but then I handed it to someone else so they could talk to someone, and they set it down on one of the kitchen counters when they were done. When I picked it up from there a couple hours later, the buttons wouldn't work.
So, does anyone know what might have happened? I have a Sprint SCP-3100.
yeah it could have been the heat from the stove if he laid it down near that or water damage. if you have insurance i would do a claim. or if you need more help just email me at xombyme@yahoo.com ive been working for sprint for about 3 years now so let me know
Would the insurance cover it if it's from either of those things? I know my brother didn't qualify or whatever because they figured his phone troubles were from a drop...
water damage is almost never covered. how old is the phone? Google the model and check user reviews, if it turns out that the keypad is prone to dying you might just have to get a new one installed. Happens to the Ericsson models that have that little joystick, they only last a year before losing response.

You mean I was stuck with a dodgy stick in my k700i for two years Cat when I could of replace it? Man, that sucks.
Try taking it back to Sprint, or fine a local little repair places they may be able to fix it on the cheap.
Just to cover the obvious problems, you have tried turning it on and off again haven't you?
yeah, you can take them to any service centre. the warranty never lasts longer than 12 months even if you buy one anyway, so by the time they usually die you can do what you want to them.
general advice: be careful about the small repair places. They're often run by idiots. Mine took for bloody ever to get repaired after it took some water damage, the camera still doesn't work (I got sick of chasing them up for the part after the sixth week and gave up) and they flashed the wrong model's software to the phone because 'its better'. grar.
