The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums here.
The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
No console announced, no release date (more than a year away), development has just begun.
Other information released at the same time:
Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice
A new character and new series starring a rookie lawyer. Phoenix Wright makes an appearance but is not the lead character. Made specifically for DS.
Lost Planet (PS3)
Avaialable early next year and will include all bonus characters from the PC version and extra downloadable content from the 360 version making it the complete package. Made possible with Blu-ray. 16 player online over the PSN.
Dark Void
A new sci-fi action-adventure IP. Trailer showed third-person and air-vehicle gameplay with a character wearing a steam punk jetpack, skydiving and landing in the cockpit of a gyroscopic aircraft, and then jumping and climbing through airbase fortesses.
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD (Xbox Live Arcade)
The game will feature a spectator mode and is scheduled for a 2008 while the team try and get zero lag for the online mode. Also features stat tracking and widescreen. Original music from Street Fighter 2 will be used, plus remixed versions of all those tunes.
Wii Love Golf
From the Everybody's Golf team comes a cutesy golf sim, that looks slightly more technical than the PlayStation versions. Players can fade or draw the ball by twisting the Wii-mote when taking a swing.
Hopefully it will be for 360 so it can take advantage of Xbox Live. If I had my way, it would be completely 2D and ship with a wired six-button controller.
Maybe this is why new media for the HD Remix of SSF2T has been practically non-existent. Maybe they secretly scrapped that project and put those efforts into a totally new SF game?
Also, while I would definitely buy it on PS3 if that were the case, they would have no excuse for not simply reducing the resolution of the artwork and releasing it on Wii.
But even if they did do a new 3D game, as long as it was good, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
edit: Also, just because the title isn't EX4 (assuming this is even real), doesn't mean it can't be 2D. EX was just to differentiate it from III and Alpha, which were out at the time.

No they confirmed that HD Remix will be released in 08. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they use many of the sprites from it though.

It's not that simple. If you reduce the resolution, you also reduce the size of the sprite, meaning they would have to reconfigure all the hitboxes and retest basically everything. It's probably worth it, given the Wii's install base, but porting games isn't that easy.

Couldn't you just lower the detail of the sprite and maintain the same overall size? Sure, the sprite would look worse, but since you'd be going down from 1080i/p to 480p, the loss of detail won't be that noticable. Then you wouldn't have to reconfigure the hitboxes.
a wii version is definitely possible but i'm not going to hold out for one. that is, unless the wii has a multi-million unit lead by the time SF4 debuts

Okay, I get it, its still on track for '08. corin7 already got that point across 10 minutes prior without coming across a little prick-ish.
Anyone got a link to the Street Fighter 4 teaser? Needless to say, I am quite pumped, though nervous about the return of my main man from Street Fighter 3.

Joystiq claims that the media's forthcoming, probably later today.
I'll say the opposite of what I said about Bionic Commando: I would rather see SF4 in 3D. There are already plenty of great Street Fighters in 2D if people want to reminisce. Time for one great one in 3D.

The last 3d Street Fighter was a horrible blot on Capcom's record

Don't we still have an hour to go with the megaton announcement?
Wonder if its an American or Japan production.
I think this is the megaton. Street Fighter 4, a new Phoenix Wright, and a new IP (Dark Void) all announced here.
...right?
Doesn't have to be. If it's 3D and GOOD, that's not really a bad thing.
if this is the megaton announcement, someone should define "megaton" to capcom...
Unless they follow Rival Schools' lead; then I'm okay with that.
And I hope this isn't another cast reboot. They need to revive the characters I'm familiar with.
Its barely miniton.
one can only hope.
It made my morning ymmv. I hope to god it is 2d.
It's called Apollo Justice, which was the subtitle for the 4th. I think Capcom's just confirming the localization of the title.
It says Street Fighter 4, not EX4.
It'll be 2D. Capcom invented 2D fighters, and to this day they're still the king of them. There'll be no chain-breaking here.
I could see them doing something like 3D cel-shaded models with 2D style gameplay, since high-definition sprites are absurdly expensive to do well.

I'm sure capcom will go the same route.
Isn't the american arcade scene all but dead? I highly doubt even the second coming of SF could revive it.

I sure as hell am. The words "gyroscopic airship" push all the right buttons for me.
Which is why it will surely be only on one of the consoles I don't own.
Khaaaaaaaan!

Absolutely awful
I think 2d would be better.
