Stupid random questions.

Hey all, i just got back to college and im too poor to go out and get my hair cut. I decided to let it grow out long, but it's wirey and wavy. In other terms, it grows in the shape of a helmet.

Is there anything I can do to make it more straight with a shampoo or something? I don't have money for a hair straightner and not emo enough hah.

Suggestions?

P.S. This forum can be used for posting other stupid random questions as well.
