South Park's New Season: Imagination Land [SPOILERS]

Didn't see a thread up, so though I would throw one up. South Park's new season, it's eleventh, started three weeks ago, and although the first episodes were okay, last night's "Imagination Land" was amazing. Just one of those episodes that show that the creators still have it. And it was a two parter!
Next week is the conclusion, but if you missed it, don't fret. This is CC, they'll rerun it all the time, like tonight for sure before Drawn Together. Definately needs to be checked out.

Isn't this the continuation of the 11th season, which started last March? I've been watching a lot of South Park online lately and while I haven't seen the new episode yet, I think the 11th season has been pretty meh so far except for "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson" and "Lice Capades".

I thought this was going to be a 3 part show? At least it said trilogy.

I thought the new season started a couple weeks ago with the Tourettes syndrome episode.

Edit: I am entirely and completely wrong on that.

South Park keeps being absolutely top notch. they have their off episodes, but as a rule of thumb they're consistently hilarious.

I love that, when Family Guy started spinning the drain, and when the last few episodes of Futurama ran, I could still go to South Park for quality entertainment. I don't see that changing for a long, long time. Even if you're post-modernist to a fault, you have to admit that societal progression keeps giving Trey and Matt new material to work with.

Also, Imaginationland started off kinda slow but it just took the fuck off and I couldn't stop laughing.
    ...Pretty fucked up though.

My wife and I were watching SP last night-
and were wincing in painful laughter at their take-off on Dreamfinder from EPCOT. Especially the "Imagination" song. Holy crap was that funny- it'd be sacralegous to most Disney fans, but holy hell, it was good stuff.

We spent the rest of the episode playing "spot the imaginary character".

One reason SP isn't running out of steam is that, unlike most network shows, they only make a limited amount of episodes per season, so they can keep the quality up, and can simply reject the "meh" episode ideas instead of polishing them up and showing them in-between the better episodes like many other shows do. Also, the long breaks they take tend to help them regenerate creatively, something that a 24-26 episodes / season schedule tends to prevent.

The BBC figured that out long ago, which is why many of their series/seasons are only 6 or 12-13 episodes long. Higher concentration of funny/quality, less filling.

Yeah this is the second half of their 11th season... depending on where you live, they either just started to broadcast it or the first half was broadcast about 6 months ago.

This was one of my favorite episodes in quite some time, though they are all of a pretty high quality. One of the reasons I think they can remain so awesome is how quick the turn around time is on episodes. Rather then taking 8 months from the start to release of an episode like some shows South Park can churn an episode out in a week. So they can have episodes about more current and relevant events.

I didn't really like the poop episode because it was all about Randy. The kids weren't even in it, except for Stan who had like 4 lines.

God, that was a classic. The best one of the episodes that haven't focused on the four has been Butter's, hands down. It's the episode that started making you think "poor Butters" every time he showed up.

Strangely the poop episode made a comment I really agreed with, which is Bono being nice for his charitability but also being kind of crappy. I mean his name is on one of the most horrendous pieces of legislation ever conceived.

My girlfriend does not appreciate SP's social commentary.

I tried to convince her that the show is more than childish humor and expletives.

After convincing her to sit down and watch an episode in its entirety:

It turns out that Bono is a giant turd. Fuckdammit.

The smoking episode with Meathead comes to mind, as do the PETA episode and the sex education one. And anything with Mr. Slave featured prominently, like the Paris Hilton episode. Or the first Big Gay Al episode. There's just so much.

Yeah, it really sucks that Comedy Network is only just now showing season 11 here in Canada. But, I guess we have the bonus of getting them completely uncut and uncensored. I was a bit shocked for a moment when they were saying Fuck unbleeped.

    Vote or Die.

    Or Fun Times with Weapons.

    Or Trapped in the Cloest.

Or the one with the Hare Club for Men.

Hell, the last one got my 50-something year old dad to start watching the new episodes regularly.

Also, this thread has to have someone get screenshots of every scene in Imagination Land to name every character they show.
