Well, I quit WoW in March for EVER after playing for over 2 years.
Was quite determined... really.
And then a week ago I started playing again... rerolling with some friends and having a rollicking good time.
By my calculations that was about 8 months.
Came back because, to be honest, other games didn't have the same ziiing. I tried CnC3, Bioshock, Dawn of War, FEAR, Warhammer Online Beta, Lord of the Rings Online... but still wanted to play WoW at the end of the day.
The longest time for me was 6 months. I quit back in March and started playing again the other day. This little WoW session is only going to last a month, though. I won't start playing seriously again for a while...maybe with the release of the next expansion, or perhaps earlier than that.
I've quit a few times before too, and it was always for school reasons.

Almost quit again about a couple months ago, actually. But then I hooked up with my current raid and they are pretty awesome.
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
