Brain Age vs Brain Age 2

So for her birthday my Mom wants a DS and Brain Age. I'm gonna grab her the Brain Age 2 + DS bundle, that said, is it worth picking up Brain Age 1 as well? Or are they too similar to be worth it?

I know theres a sudoku mode, does it just have certain puzzles or does it generate them? I expect this will probably be her most played mode, so if its certain puzzles it might be worth getting both for when she runs out of one, but if it generates them then theres no real point in getting both for that purpose.

Sudoku has set puzzles. I believe 100 per game.

    Alright, thanks for the info.

I'm still wondering whether or not the two games are different enough from each other to be worth getting both. Also, I figured I'd add what else is good in terms of casual games?

My mom's into puzzle games, and brain teasers and that kinda stuff.

Finially a post I'm qualified to answer! :D

Both games have the sudoku mode (which is very addicting and almost made me and my friend miss our flight home from PAX). Each of the games has all different mini games. I feel that the games in brain age 2 are more challenging, but the games from the first one are also quite fun.

    Check out which games there.

Picross is a pretty cool game except im awful at explaining it. Check out youtube for videos on how its played.

Jam Session is another one to think about, its not a game per se, but it is a tool. Its not like guitar hero or anything, but you basically strum across the screen, and hold down different chords to make the DS play songs. It does take musical skill and talent, not sure if your mom would like that kind of thing. But I've seen my family members (with Zero musical talent) kill the better part of an afternoon on it.

Oh, thanks alot. Also, anyone happen to know if theres any difference between the crimson red and the white ds lite? (I've noticed it's like $20 more expensive everywhere and im not sure if it's just some new colour or is actually better in any way)

Brain Age 2 has better handwriting and voice recognition than Brain Age, and while I miss a couple of the games from the first one while playing it you'd probably be better off just buying her 2

Well, it comes with brain age 2 (which is $20), otherwise the only difference is the color

if she likes bejeweled puzzle quest is a lot of fun, with a cute little fantasy-hero story to go with it. also, meteos is mindless stylus moving fun on the ds.
