Recommended apocalyptic songs

Ok so I am putting together a playlist for a Halloween party and I have it mostly done except the final song. I'm looking for something hard and fast that basically ends with the destruction of humanity in some horrible manner. Not so much death metal per se, this is more a punk/metal event. A nuclear holocaust would be alright, I remember reading a thread in G&T after Defcon was released where people were discussing songs that would go well with it but I can't find that thread in any archives here. So yeah, any recommendations at all would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm not sure that it's exactly the flavor you're looking for, but Metallica's "Fight Fire with Fire" fits the whole nuclear holocaust motif pretty well.

Man I have the perfect one, but I cannot remember the name. I have it at home, if someone hasn't beaten me to it I'll post again with the name. I know the first words of the song are "I'm declaring an emergency."

Pulse of the Maggots - Slipknot?

Not really apocalyptic, but it wouldn't create a very nice future.

If we're going the old speed/thrash metal route, Megadeth has a few songs.

Megadeth - Set the World Afire
Megadeth - Rust in Peace... Polaris

    Possibly:
    Metallica - The Four Horsemen

In the House - In a Heartbeat, but it wouldn't work because it's not what he is looking for.
this is more a punk/metal event

I would have recommended East Hastings (which coincidentally is from 28 Days Later) and Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls by Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Never Surrender Virtue, by 100 Demons.

Or, if you want to end your party in complete mayhem, All Will Suffer, by Shattered Realm. Win.

Or you could just put on the entire "Prowler in the Yard" album by Pig Destroyer- that'll clear the party out in a heartbeat, and the first track, Jennifer- is fucking horrifying.

Anyway- Godspeed! You Black Emporer is awesome, but I don't think that they make good "party" music- they're the kind of band you listen to when you're just hanging out.

Well.. if he plays any Wumpscut I'd suggest 'Jetzt' or 'Embryodead' as closers.. or maybe the one song off Mesner Tracks I can't remember :/

'Apocalypse Please', by Muse- awesome suggestion- I'm a huge Muse fan and that's my favorite song by them :D

Dragonforce has no place at a party, IMO..

If you ended your party with Smashing Pumpkins, I'd go with '1979' (and not just because it's my favorite song by them :D)- it's a rad tune and I think it would wrap up a chill party nicely.

Or you could play 'Superfreak' and everyone will just leave... that, or 'I Saw the Sign', by Ace of Base :P

August Burns Red "The Seventh Trumpet". This may or may not work for you. Technical/hardcore and the end of this song is an all out blowout of a breakdown of the world ending.

Every Time I Die "Ebolarama" Always a great song, cause "It's a rush that the cockroaches get, at the end of the world"

I'll keep editing if I think of more.

Dude, what? "Soylent Green" is classic early 90s industrial. Don't tell me you're one of those people who claim that the only "real" industrial band is Psychic TV or something.

Anyway, Front Line Assembly's "Mortal" is a good apocalyptic track (the samples are from the last part of In the Mouth of Madness), but I don't know if it's what you're looking for. In terms of punk/metal, I am very fond of everything by In Love and War (formerly Stalins War), but in this case I am thinking of "This World Has No Heartbeat".

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.

Frank Zappa's "Dumb All Over" might work. It's not really a punk song (more of a rap, really), but it has strong apocalyptic / war themes, plenty of fanaticism, bomb sounds and sirens, and it sounds good as a closing song on an album.

    "You can't run a race
    without no feet
    'n pretty soon
    there won't be no street
    for dummies to jog on
    or doggies to dog on
    Religious fanatics
can make it be all gone
(I mean it won't blow up
    'n disappear
    it'll just look ugly
    for a thousand years...)"

Thanks for all the recommendations! Some very good songs listed here. Right now I'm leaning towards Mortal by Front Line Assembly, the audio clips give it that "final broadcast as the world dies" vibe that I was hoping for. It's funny, the ending to In the Mouth of Madness (and the video clip beamed back from the future in Prince of Darkness) were what I had in mind as influences but I didn't realize that any songs existed which incorporated material from either of those movies.

I'm still interested in more recommendations if anyone has any new ones though. Also would like to know the name of the song you referenced earlier, Falx, if it's not Apocalyse Please by Muse which has already been mentioned.

You might want to try some Electric Hellfire Club, maybe 'Invocation' (somebody more versed might be able to make a better recommendation). Are you looking for *ONE* song or many?

If you want a few how about:
    Isis - The Minus Times
Skinny Puppy - Grave Wisdom (once again probably better out there)
    Ministry - No "W"
Strapping Young Lad's remake of Room 429
    Meshuggah - Mind's Mirrors
Maybe some Sinister Urge era Rob Zombie House of 1k corspes or Bring Her Down (to Crippletown)

What kind of music atmosphere do you want?
