So I am in school for making games. You know, cool ones.
You may know of a game called Portal, which some students from my school came up with.
I am working on a solo game for school and would like a few people who are interested in playing the alpha and giving me feedback on it.
The game concept: A hybrid platformer and puzzle game.
I am trying to make it funny too, which is one reason I'd like feedback. I want people to laugh with my game, not AT it. Think early Sierra adventure games (Space Quest/Quest for Glory/etc) -- sure, that's a pipe dream, but that's the model anyhow. I'd be happy with even a few things people found pretty funny. So if you're interested, I'd prefer honest feedback to "Oh this is wonderful neville, so hilaaaarious" that doesn't help me improve it.
Sign up if you:
* Will actually spend some time on this (playing the game some and giving me feedback)
* Can be honest about what you like and what you dislike
* Have a PC (The game is
NOT mac compatible, nor is it Linux/Minix/Penix compatible). It MAY work on Vista, but I'm not sure. I'd prefer XP since it will definitely work on that.
DON'T sign up if:
* You cannot commit to playing it
* You don't intend on giving feedback
* You wouldn't be able to give
honest feedback (if you like it, you can say so, but you need to be able to say "it sucks" and expalin why)
Note: this is NOT a "HAY HELP ME DO MY HOMEWORK" thread. This is a "I am doing my shit, I want to get a few people's honest opinions" thread.
I'm probably looking for around 5-6 people; you would be listed in the credits for playtesting.
The first alpha version of the game would probably be in ~ 1.5 weeks. There would likely be 1-2 additional versions afterwards.
I don't know how many people will be interested, if any, but if there is a LOT of interest I'll probably look over the list before deciding.
The list!
These 4 are industry related, so I'm expecting extra special super duper advice from them :P

count me in
CAN YOU AFFORD NOT TO HIRE ME?!
so yes i would play it
The game is required to follow guidelines that would earn it an E10 rating.
I may try to push that, buuut yeah.
And there will likely be an SE++ themed release after I finish the original which I'll link here.
Really subtle.
keith has baby hands
As he's in a different demographic group than most of you, he's pretty much assured a spot, unless Zephyr or TFS come in and want to duke it out. =P
wouldn't you want more than one person from a certain demographic, i mean teefs and i are very different people
(who is zephyr?)
I want to play
Yes, I know you are different.
Yes WaM, I do's.
No guarantees. I know the SDK has severe issues running on Vista, so I'm not really sure if the .EXE needs to. I'd prefer people to use XP, since I don't want to spend time tracking down phantom bugs that may be Vista/Microsoft-OS-sucks derived.
t Koshian, no the graphics will not be intense at all.
English as second language demographic
Hell, I'm so in.
Ps: I use a mac, k
Gotta entice people somehow.
Actually I have an XP rig as well but thats not so stellar. If the requirements are low I can play it on that.
and um... I will also play your game
Yes, your test involves sending naked pictures of yourself to my email.
This test should be begun immediately.
Dunno the details about that program, just remember hearing about it a little over a year ago.
Why, do you know some girls?
Nevs, is this XNA?
oh shit that's free?
do want
I've seen it, but that's way beyond the scope of this.
They have an XNA class which is a total mindfuck. You have to create a game from start to finish, on your own, in 15 weeks. EVERYTHING. Graphics, music, etc. I hear XNA is pretty decent, but I don't think I could pull it off, for one thing because I don't have the math to do that yet.
It's a senior level class and the requirements are pretty insane... Nothing below a 3.0 in any core class (any programming or math class) :P
This game will be MUCH simpler than that. I've got some cool ideas planned, but nothing that would fly on Xbox live.
Im low on my ball kicking quota lately.
Does mully's roommate know you regularly proposition guys over the internet
cuz he's old
oh, you've got programming experience?
I built the framework for a side scroller on it in 4 hours a while back. The collision detection was wonky but that's just because I didn't plan ahead.
My current project is on XNA.
