So the data on my old hard drive for my laptop was sort of destroyed and lost during a small accident. Because of that I've purchased a new one and reinstalled the OS. While it's operating just fine I don't seem to be able to update the video drivers on it to anything current. The graphics are ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 and it's running on an Acer notebook with Windows XP Professional. Because it's Acer apparently I can't go through AMD's site for the update but have to go through Acer's instead. I thought I downloaded the appropriate drivers but the only thing updated after going through a few different setups I found in the folder was apparently the driver packaging version and none of the 2d or 3d drivers according to the graphics information.
So I'm sort of at a loss here. Is there something obvious I'm missing? Or am I just screwed?
