How do I burn a movie file with subtitles for a DVD player in OS X?
So I have this .avi, with a .sub file for the optional subtitles; and then a .idx file for what looks like cuing the subtitles with the movie, since the subs don't display without the .idx file.
I'm in OS X with a SuperDrive. How can I burn those files to a DVD that can be played in my erryday DVD player, subtitles and all?
You should give us some details as to what the .avi is and how you acquired it.
From what you've got above, this sounds like it could be pirate talk and that is a strict no-no around these parts.
Its such a pain in the ass. The only way i ever found to successfully do it, and have it work every time, was to re-encode the subs as hard subs into the file, and then use a program to convert the AVI to dvd (Roxio easy media creator does this best last time i tried).
Do what i did, buy a 200 or 300 dollar PC and hook it up to your TV. It will save you atleast that much money in pure frustration.
