Dungeon Siege II and Vista

Help - we bought DS II and are running Vista Home Premium, Nvidia 7300LE, Dual core processor and 4 G RAM. Have tried all types of program compatabilty options but still keep getting booted out the game as soon as we get into it.
Error msg says' Gathering Exception Data" and then "DS II has encountered and error and must close".
I have been toa couple Vista helpsites and they have just told me to use program compatability (which as I mentioned doesn't seem to help) and further blogs I have visited regarding DS II seem to suggest other people are running it with no problem.
I have a hunch that the probs may be due to the video card not being supported, but cannot find any info to confirm that.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this game to run??

7300LE and 4 gigs of RAM? I can't imagine the drunken bender someone was on when they built that computer. In any case, assuming the 7300LE can run DSII (it's possible), you'll want to update the video card drivers and update DSII.

Yeah, well I guess I can blame good ol Dell for convincing me that if I was going to be running a whole lot of games on my system that I needed what I have.......never again will I buy from them, you don't know the half of it.....................:x
Anyway, thanks, I will try updating the video card driver, but not sure what you mean by updating DS II - do I go on their website to find such an update?? Sorry for what I am sure seems like a stupid question..
(don't laugh, I am just a mom trying to make her kid happy!)

he means you have to patch (update) the game

This might sound stupid but right click the game and click run as administrator. The geniuses that designed Vista programmed in memory limits, so most games will click off after a certain memory allocation is reached. Use as admin might fix this.

Thanks - I did use the admin option when setting the program compatability option and it did not help. I also did NOT set program compatability and ran as admin and still didn't work.
Is there a way to set the game to run as admin BEFORE install?? wasn't sure about that.
When I update the game from the webiste link kindly provided, does the game need to be installed (stupid question I know, but just checking, and I am only on my 1st cup of java for the day so feeling a bit slow yet!)

I shall also go to Nvidia and try updating the driver for the card I have and see if that helps.

Welll ,thanks to all who answered, but I have tried all I can think of to get this damn game to run (which it should, based on what i have read)
I am wondering if having an Nvidia 7300LE is the problem - have updated the driver but cannot find anywhere an indication that it is supported for this game.
Have tried program compatibility, running as administrator,installing game and downloading patch - have installed and uninstalled the game 4 times and still get the following error message:
"Exception Detection - gathering exception data", then it says "DSII Game executable not responding"

Any ideas or feedback are most welcome - I had a tech over yesterday setting up wireless router for me and he couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work either, save being an issue with the graphics card.
