Music For A School Dance

Ok guys, so after enough bitching a sizable number of students at my school have managed to convince the ASB that not everyone loves rap music at school dances, and maybe some real dance/techno/electronic/house/whatever would fit in rather nicely.

I've been assigned the task of compiling a fun list of artists that will get people dancing, but I don't have enough. Not nearly enough. At the most recent dance the DJ played a few Daft Punk tunes, and people dug that, so you can use that as an indicator of the genre we're looking for. Also people at my school go apeshit for "Sandstorm", the ancient 90's hit.

So far my list includes:

Daft Punk
MSTRKRFT
Justice

I'm getting some stuff from my friend who actually know something about music, but I'd love your dudes inputs as well.

Thanks.

Paul Okenfold is a popular dude.

I'd suggest throwing some rock in there by the way.

    non-techno/rock/pop:

Elvis - A Little Les Conversation (JXL Radio remix) (crazy awesome, and sort of electronicky)

Cascada - Everytime we touch (hellz yes for both cheesiness and awesomesauce @ a dance. Europop, and carries Tycho's seal of approval)

Aerosmith - Don't Wanna Miss a thing (good slow)

The Fratellis - Whistle for the Choir (never heard at a dance, but would make an incredible slow song)

    techno-ish:

Prodigy - Firestarter (I'M A FIRESTARTER, TWISTED FIRESTARTER, for slightly heavier techno, but by heavier I do not mean heavy)

Crazy Frog - Axel F. (?) or whatever this song is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkHm8uUuT0o (annoying as hell, but great for a dance)

Yes. If you can find his R&R CD, it has two discs of nonstop mixes of his tracks.

    Tiesto couldn't hurt, either.

    Fluke - Absurd

I also support DJ Tiesto. Possibly also Coburn and Zombie Nation. And you know, I always wanted to hear some Rob Dougan at a school dance. Apparently Clubbed to Death was really popular in the European club scene or something? Clubbed to Death 2 is also good.

If they go apeshit for Sandstorm, you probably couldn't go wrong with some more Darude tunes. "Before the Storm" is a good album.

Be sure to get the original mix, not the crappy, cut-down radio version. The original sounds much more like a dance tune and a lot less like a pop song.

Haddaway - What is love? (serious suggestion)

Aphex Twin is not dance music, are you insane?

If you are looking for danceable bloop bloop music, try Amon Tobin - Solid Steel Presents, or Bonobo - It Came From the Sea.

Also, if you are good at mixing (and the crowd is up for it) you could try throwing in some salsa/samba/hip-hop stuff in there. Ozomatli, some of the tracks off the Take the Lead soundtrack, etc.

Paul van Dyk is really good trance, Nothing but You from his album Reflections is really good.

Also, Pendulum has a good drum n bass album, Hold your Colour, I think it would be good for dancing.
2 songs from that album: Tarantula, Slam

Dandy Warhols, be selective about which of their songs you use, not all of them are suitable for dancing. I recommend at least the album, Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia.
