Okay, so I replaced the fridge door seal, which means I'm super rad, but there's another problem with it: the internal drain system is blocked, and water keeps building up in the back and leaking out on to the floor. Its icky, and will also fuck up my nice new seal. A quick google tells me a fridge repair dude can fix it for about AU$90, but I don't want to spend any more money on a fridge I bought for $80 if I can help it. So, has anyone here ever cleaned out the drain system on a fridge themselves? Is it easy enough to do, or should I not mess with it?
Cleaning a drain isn't too hard. It's really just a question of whether or not you know where your drain is and whether or not you have a turkey baster or a something thinnish to push the clog out. The drain is usually under the vegetable crisper or on the back panel of the fridge. Use a warm water solution in conjunction with the turkey baster to push the clog out. If you can't get water through the clog then you can use whatever, so long as it is long and thin and fairly rigid, to push the clog out.
I don't know, you could probably use some kind of solvent if you actually have a full on mold growing. I mean, you might want to clean out the drain pan and everything, too, while you're at it, and then again once the junk is out.
