I used to play this game in arcades back in the 90's, it was kinda like tekken but with weapons, I remember a guy dressed in black and had a sword, I know the description sounds vague but that's all i remember and the background was always kinda red? just tell me games and I'll see if it's it or not, thanks for any help!

    My first reaction about hearing about a 'fighting game with a guy dressed in black who had a sword' was Sephiroth in Ehrgeiz. Forgot all about that game till now, it was really well made.

    Or perhaps you're thinking of Bushido Blade?

    Just two shots in the dark. I think they had Arcade versions, but I could be wrong.

    When you say 2D, you mean the art is 2D? Because Tekken is 3D.

    Soul Calibur is pretty much a weaponed combat game that competed with Tekken. But again, both are 3D.

    Any of the Virtua Fighter games?
    Pretty much all of them have been named as far as I know. Unless you're talking about that Sonic game...

    Was it Soul Edge? That was the name of the arcade version of Soul Blade, the predecessor of Soul Calibur.
