The kid from Almost Famous kills himself and wakes up in the world inhabited by suicides, which is like ours but crappier. He embarks on a road trip to find his former girlfriend, who he learns committed suicide a month after him. On the way he meets zany characters, falls in love and learns to enjoy life again. Tom Waits plays an angel who saves him and reunites him with his love in the world of the living. A touching story of love and redemption/resurrection for a hipster audience.

That sounded stupid until you said Tom Waits and then I was all about it.

And it's time once again for a Periodic All-Star House Update. We're through 41 Congresses, aka the first two years of Ulysses S. Grant. 134 have qualified. The state breakdown shows that Massachusetts is starting to run away with things:

    18- Massachusetts
    12- New York
    10- Ohio
    8- Maryland, Pennsylvania
    7- Illinois
    6- Kentucky, South Carolina
5- Indiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia
    4- Connecticut, Maine, Michigan
    3- Alabama, Delaware, Missouri, Vermont
2- Georgia, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Texas
1- California, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, Rhode Island
0- 20 states, only 7 of which have been admitted as of this point. Those are: Arkansas, Florida, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, West Virginia, and, unfortunately, Wisconsin. Yes, Arkansas and Florida STILL haven't managed to qualify anyone.

Party breakdown (if someone belonged to multiple parties, I went with the one they'd be best associated with):
    43- Republican
    28- Democrat
    25- Democratic-Republican
    13- Whig
    10- Federalist
    5- Anti-Administration
    4- Free Soil
    3- Pro-Administration
    1- National Union
    1- Unionist
    1- Know Nothing

That's from back in the Washington era. There weren't technically parties per se, but historians went back and assigned people parties based on their voting patterns. The party names are pretty self-explanatory.

So I had a dream a couple nights ago that I had joined a plant biology lab, and they were having a crisis because their protein of interest was behaving completely differently between 2 experiments, and they couldn't explain it, and then I took one look at the data, and I said, "Well, the plants in one experiment were watered with distilled deionized water, and the plants from the other experiment were watered with pond water, I bet there's some nutrient in the pond water that is affecting plant metabolism and thus cell signaling. Then everyone went "Yay! We now have a coherent model!" and they all loved me.

The moral of the story is, I need to join a lab already. Rotation is stressing me out.

The bad thing about Bioshock is that I really have no incentive to play it again. Without achievements, I don't think the sales would have been as good for it.

I'm kinda the same about Bioshock...while I was playing it, I kept reading about the different types of playthroughs (Wrench + Plasmid, for example) and got really excited to start over. Then I beat it, try to start again and realize that for some reason or another I have absolutely no drive to play through it again. Huh.

Might try to get back into Oblivion, maybe? or the NWN2 expansion?

or, maybe, just maybe, college apps?

Pah, everyone chooses Baker. Also, while I love him to bits, you can tell when he starts to get bored with the role after about year three; though there were some decent stories spread throughout the last four years they weren't really a patch on anything between Ark in Space and Talons of Weng-Chiang.

It's a shame Davision wasn't on longer, but I wouldn't have wanted to see him doing the Colin Baker stories. That and Harry Sullivan should've stayed on. Him and Sarah Jane were great together.

Yeah, Harry was great. Actually I've liked most of the male companions (except Adric, of course :P ) - it's like since they couldn't just stand around and scream, the writers were forced to actually make them interesting somehow. Plus it sort of changes up the dynamics of the show a bit. Having multiple companions (since he's never had just a male) lets the Doctor be more mysterious and in the background instead of out front ooh-ing and aaah-ing at everything all the time.
