Brand new USB drive not working on other computers
So I live about an hour away from my college campus and have huge chunks of time to kill between classes, so I put Dwarf Fortress on a USB flash drive to take with me. I just opened the packaging last night and it worked fine, I played DF for about 3 hours on it with no issues. However, when I try to plug in the drive to an on-campus computer, the little light on it flashes a couple times and I see a bubble pop up from the tray saying it seems the USB flash drive and is assigning it to drive I:\.
The problem is that I go to My Computer and there is no I:\. I tried typing it into the address bar to manually go there and it said it didn't exist. I did some more experimentation and it seems that immediately after the computer detects the drive it immediately undetects it. If I plug it in with my computer or the device manager open, it'll pop up briefly (until the 'USB drive found' announcement in the bottom right corner goes away). I can't access it at all during this brief popup, the icon in My Computer for it has a red question mark on it and lags out if I try to open it, and I get an error message when the computer is done 'undetecting' the drive.
I tried it on a different computer in a completely different lab. No dice. I asked the IT guys working in two different computer labs here on campus, and both of them just shrugged and said they didn't know what the issue was. Since I can't do any solution that requires admin access, am I fucked? I know that we're not forbidden from using thumb drives or anything, I see other people using them fine all the time and there's a flyer on the wall right in front of me saying that computers with floppy drives are limited so they encourage USB flash drives.
TL;DR My goddamn USB drive is broken or something and I have no fucking idea why.
I took it home last night and formatted it, still no luck. I tested it on multiple computers and the only ones it won't work on are the ones on the college network. As I said, other people can use thumbdrives, so any idea why mine isn't working? Sorry to bump, but this is really bugging me.

try the drive without the game on it? just a random document or something?
Good idea, I'll try that tomorrow.
