uTorrent + Proxies or something

So lately uTorrent has stopped working at my college. With demos getting up in the multiple gigabyte range, this is somewhat irritating. I figure the way around this is establishing a connection to the peers/seeds via a proxy, then once that's up I can ditch the proxy and just download/upload normally. Unfortunately it either doesn't work like that or I'm doing something wrong, because every torrent I try just gives me the "connection closed by peer" message or whatever. I'm using uTorrent as my torrent program and Your Freedom as my proxy. I set everything up like it says on this page, as far as I can tell.

Am I doing anything wrong, or missing any steps? Am I going about it the wrong way? Should I just forget torrents altogether and just hope Gamershell has an open server when I want a big file?*

*Should this be in that new tech forum? That place smells funny. I like it here much more.

Yeah, let's have a thread about how to bypass security on a network you don't own. Actually no, let's not, ever.
