My primary monitor is monitor 2

I'm running XP with 2 monitors. I want my primary monitor to be monitor number 1, because some programs pop up windows on monitor 1 instead of the primary monitor. How do I change this?

Can't. Monitor 1 is a TV and Monitor 2 is an actual computer monitor.

I think the quickest way to remedy this is to unplug the TV, reboot, go to the display properties, then plug in the TV and "enable" it. Then reboot to make sure that it stays.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?

Download UltraMon, it'll let you switch the monitors around.

Display settings for the win. Just change the "use this device as my primary monitor" settings.

No, that doesn't work. Look. I want to change the 2 into a 1.

I haven't tried embrik's solution yet, but I ran into this once before and I know there's a solution from within XP. I remember it being really bizarre, though.

Can you just change which device is the primary monitor? You just need to unselect the first monitor to change them.

edit: Oh nevermind you already have that set. Weird. Sorry.

I had the same problem when I was setting up two monitors. I really don't remember how I fixed it, other than I disabled/enabled the monitors, and unplugged them a few times until I could get them to stay!

There's an option in the catalyst control center for ATI cards where you can switch monitors around. Is there not an equivilant function in whatever geforce's answer to the CCC is?
