    What.

You should be thankful - the award was originally called The Mountain Dew Award for Outstanding Service in the Field of Xtreme Dewiness.

Since when does Bioshock have an original score? Isn't it all just older music? I recognize alot of it.

And the Orange Box as one game is unfair.

And since when does Rock Band count as having breakthrough technology?

God I hate video game awards.

It's a miracle they can even know what Shin Megami Tensei is, though I doubt it has any chance of winning.

Though it's great to see it nominated, all the same.

And why is there no DS category? PSP? PS2? The more I look at this, the more ridiculous the concept looks.
(The 'rhythm game' category is pretty weak, but I guess it's a start.)

Okay, I just noticed 'Best Handheld'. :| Still, weak.

I haven't played it yet, since it isn't released here until the end of the month, but everyone who has played it seems to be so overwhelmed by its greatness that they froth at the mouth when describing it.

    Anyway, on to the topic:

I remember the first Spike Video Game Award shit. And it seems this year is following up the same way. Remember, Spike is television for 'men' or whatever. Which means anything that's genuinely fun that doesn't involve drinking or cursing excessively or spitting on people isn't cool.

Are these the very same people that gave 50 Cent Bulletproof 6 or 7 awards months before it was even released?

and hired David Spade and Sarah Silverman as hosts, who then just continually told people that they'd never get laid? (lol!)

and gave Best Handheld to Splinter Cell the first year, and showed footage from the Xbox version because the handheld one probably looked like shit?

Exactly. And I don't mean to bash people who like the games on those lists, or the games themselves (because hey, they are a face full of kickass). It's just that they have a one-mindedness that isn't suitable for this sort of award 'ceremony.'

Yes, I know, and it makes me oh so sad.

It's not that Halo 3 is bad game at all, it just really, really doesn't deserve the acclaim it's getting. I sometimes feel dirty for enjoying it. Which is a sad, sad reaction to have.

I guess kicking and punching taints will be in order.

I watched these one year (the first, I think - Samuel L Jackson hosted) solely because they advertised Red Hot Chili Peppers as being on.

Turns out they just gave one of the awards, they didn't play.

I want several hours of my life back.

While I would LOVE to see a "real" awards show for video games (where the nominees and winners are chosen in a process similar to the Oscars but maybe less broken) I fear Spike TV's money-grab where the show is FILMED before winners are even released may kill any chance of that happening :(.
