So what do you guys think, is this going to be something you are going to be picking up? Shall we all exchange name tags or even start our own racing clan or am I the only one who preordered this? Either response is fine, but it has been released on many of the platforms, from the 360, PS3, PS2, Wii & DS(?) and of course the PC. For the PC however it is only $40 and it looks like that is a much more fitting price tag than the tag offered with the 360 or PS3 versions.
Thoughts from the Demo: The demo is available for the PC and the 360. From playing it, it is very different from the other NFS games. For example, there is no open world, there are up to 8 cars racing at once, there is now insane amounts of potential damage, and the new physics they have incorporated make it definitely harder to control your car when you are moving 200 mph down a highway as you slightly drift into the shoulder. I thought I hated it at first, but it makes sense and you get used to it after three or four races. The cars themselves look great and the autosculpt sliders they have added look crazy for the amount of customization potential there is.
I will be picking my preorder up soon and get back to yall.

HUGE REQUEST: If anybody gets the Wii version could you post some impressions? I'm interested in the game but anytime I go to find out about the Wii version I get nothing but the 360/PS3/PC version information. Heck the game has been released already retail and IGN still only has 3 (promotional) screenshots and no review.
Reviews have been mostly lukewarm, though the complaints have been about the kind of stuff I don't really care about ("ware are plice? i waent fastest car rite away! oh noes, advertising"). 1up called the handling just about perfect, while IGN complained that it felt sluggish and boat-like; I know which site I tend to trust more (hint: it's not IGN) but I'm still not sure, even after playing the demo a couple times.
I guess it's a moot point -- I'd only be playing it for six days, and then Mass Effect comes out. I'll see about getting this sometime next year, by which time it'll hopefully be available used for $40.
EDIT: GameSpot says the Wii version controls for shit.
I wasn't sure about Carbon, so I tried the demo, which crashed often during races, and would not run at all after I upgraded to Vista, so that was a bit of a wash.
Going back to all night time racing, the cliff racing, things like that seemed contrived to me, and I think Pro Street will have to be very good to lure me back.
PlayStation 2 and Wii owners are missing out on ProStreet's best feature: its online component.
Why the fuck did it take to the final REVIEW of the game to mention that the Wii version won't have online? Could that not have been mentioned even once in any of the previews?
It's officially not worth buying for me now. The whole point was to play some online games with a few friends who don't live near me.
Why did they not include online in the Wii version!? I'm really starting to hate EA.. There's no reason for that.. It's there, they can do it. So do it! I'm not even considering buying it now.
Oh how I cannot wait to do start designing some cars.
Also, I kind of suspected the wii and PS2 owners would get a little screwed.
Screwed in graphics and sound, yes. Maybe even screwed for framerate or downloadable extras (thanks to lack of hard drive), or even screwed on having a less detailed physics engine.
But not to include online multi player, one of the game's biggest selling points, on a system that has a built-in online infrastructure is just fucking lazy.
Nintendo WFC is not as good as XBL, but it's there and it's ready and I'm starting to get annoyed that 3rd parties are ignoring it so frequently. I don't expect Nintendo to suddenly shift to an online gameplay strategy ... that's not their bag. But to see so many 3rd parties completely turn their noses up at it is a little surprising.
So yeah, I have been racing for the past hour or few. Pretty cool game and it's really fun how the organizations often give you a car to race with, so worrying about damage isn't all that huge of deal as long as you don't total that shit. I am just a bit disappointed that I cannot make a car right from the start...
EDIT: Also, online play is available, but there is only like, 2 people online right now. If you guys want, my EA name is LuckCynic and search and send me a friend invite or something.
Okay, after spending a good like, 30min on EA's website, I finally set up all my accounts and linked them. Now I can enjoy cool stuff like hosting my screenshots on their shitty community...
The demo really isn't the best way to judge the game. It is a bit different when you play the game because when I was first starting, it was just about going from 60-100, not 150-200. and really, the handling felt very solid to me. The game isn't characterized and made to feel like an arcade style game like the previous Need For Speeds. This one is like the perfect blend of GT in it without it being hardcore realistic.
Basically the cars will act like you expect them to, but it is easy to pick up and get good at.
Well I'd be more than happy to check the game out, except for the fact that NOBODY has it for the 360.
Get it for the PC.
Doo eeeet.
No really, not many people are getting this, which is unfortunate, but I do suppose it is a bad time to release a medium sort of game. I mean, NFS has never really conjured up huge hype, and besides this, big name labels are coming out and they might as well just end up being another Bioshock or just a different flavor. Doesn't take anything away from ProStreet though, still fun as fuck.
I think you are full of fail. Free roam was awesome, and optional.
Nice comeback. Go-go crappy BBcode.
I never did get free roam, you would just drive around until you happened upon the next police in which you initiated a chase or you found whatever car lot or race you were looking for. It wasn't anything like Tokyo Extreme Racing in which the free roam is the game.
Anyways, I just got into the Rogue Speed organization. Apparently the top of the organizations become unlocked if you beat pre-set records for that type of event. So my crazy awesome 8 second 'Cuda beat all of the records and now am going for the Drag King. Much better than having to work my way up there from filling in the story line completely linear.
Lucky, you make a good point. I'd have to say that my biggest problem with Most Wanted WAS the police pursuits. They were really fun up until they became impossible. then again, I feel that way about a lot of racing games. In the end, they all become impossibly hard or incredibly boring (a la Gran Turismo's F1 races).
I'm still not totally sold on this game because of the physics engine (if it's anything like the demo, it's inexcusable for a next gen console). However, I'm not gonna lie about how interested I am.
They really should have thrown in a drift race in the demo, the drifting is dead on and really solid. Grip is cool too, but the demo was rather boring. If you have a craaazy fucking course, then grip is cool, but the demo grip track was too easy,a s was the AI. If you can, try and rent it or play it at a friend's place. After like an hour or so of gameplay, I was set on it and liked it very mooch. ^^
I bought it. I'd have to say I'm not only unimpressed, but somewhat disturbed by the constant drops in framerate during the "Grip" races. It's annoying and really ruins whatever fun I was having during the race. The drag races are fun, and my drifting experience has been limited, so I don't really have an opinion yet.
I don't know. Unless they release a patch, it could be a lost cause.
I just played this at my friends house on his 360. I think it was fine in regards to frame rates as I didn't notice it was really slow or dropping at all. I don't have a lot of time anymore to play tons of games, but I think taking ProStreet in smaller doses is probably the best way to go.
As for the online community, the trouble is that each platform is separated and each needs some time to grow and have people upload records and blueprints and such. The $40 I payed for the PC version felt well invested in my opinion and the game does play very nice on the Kb&m but you console guys are getting ripped a bit. $60 just isn't enough. Now if they had more Online and replayability to it, that would be cool, but they really haven't.

My 'Cuda, first 10 second Drag car.
Yes, because everyone just loves to drag race in the middle of fucking traffic.
Seriously, your post is so full of fail.
Truth is, I just need a new racing game. I've already earned the top spot on my PGR4 career, and have unlocked all of the cars worth driving.
Basically the cars will act like you expect them to, but it is easy to pick up and get good at.
