Scratched cornea?

I woke up this morning from a night of heavy drinking and have noticed that there's something wrong with my left eye. It can't focus on anything more than about a foot away. Beyond that everything is very slightly blurry, like an image from a camera that is ever-so-slightly out of focus. I'm left-eye-dominant, so it's noticable even with both eyes open. Two nights ago, it felt like something was stuck in it for an hour or two, and someone suggested that I may have scratched it, but the feeling went away. I think I definitely would have noticed this problem if it were present after that and before this morning, so I'm not sure if this has to do with that, the drinking, or neither. Has this happened to anyone? Will it go away soon or should I schedule an appointment with an optometrist/opthamoligist?

I wouldn't recommend waiting it out because it could lead to something more serious. I'd go to an Optometrist just to be on the safe side.

Obviously seek professional adive regarding your situation. Look in the mirror and see if you can identify anything odd on the surface of your eye.

When I worked on some welding with my dad, a tiny piece of metal was able to get under my goggles and hit my eye. My eye teared a lot but the tiny, microscopic piece was still there. My eye sight was fine most of the time but if I looked up, it'd twitch like crazy. I eventually had to get an operation for it. It wasn't painful or long (basically focusing on something for a long time then having my eyes dialated) and it happened like 7 years ago, so I'm sure it's a cheaper/quicker operation these days.

Anything with your eyes generally needs a doctor (ophthalmologist, not optometrist).

Dehydration can cause your eyes to lose focus and not see as well.

If you are hung over and dehydrated after the heavy drinking you will not see as well.

Should still see a doctor but if you drink a crap load of water and it goes away tomorrow that might have been the problem.
