The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Based on Fate/Stay Night WHICH IS THE KIND OF GAME THAT WE DON'T TALK ABOUT APPARENTLY BUT IS PRETTY CRAZY COOL ANYWAY. I suppose you could say that it's also based on the anime, but the anime covers less than a third of the game, and it covers the crappiest third.
It's being published by Capcom for arcades (though like all things, I'm sure there'll be a console port, and knowing Type-Moon, probably a PC port too). Development is by 8ing, the same people who did “Bloody Roar 3″ (PS2), “Naruto Clash of Ninja” (GC), “Rurouni Kenshin Enjyo! Kyoto Rinne” (PS2), “Bleach Heat the Soul” (PSP), and Battle Stadiun D.O.N.(PS2), so who knows, it might turn out good.
Maybe now Type-Moon can hire somebody who knows English and isn't a drunkard.
Hadn't they already hit the big time with Melty Blood by Act Cadenza? Although I'm just judging by popularity and acceptance by the arcade scene in Japan.
This is a interesting development though. I wonder how it'll play. I can't recall there being many Fate fighters although I can't recall looking for them either. The only one I've played was Fatal/Fake. With this and Actress Again, Type-moon's expanding some more.

I think the total development team needs to be greater than 10 people before you can call it "big time." :P
Well yeah okay. Point taken. Those 10 people did produce a very quality fighter though.
Is this game going to be full 3D fighter or something more like KoF Maximum Impact with 3D graphics but still based on a 2D plane? I can't imagine the cast of Fate playing out like a VF or Soul calibur. Has there been any more information extracted from those scans pertaining to gameplay?

Nein. Those scans represent approximately 99% of the knowledge about the game.
Huh. Yeah it doesn't really impress me. It seems decent but nothing too spectacular. Really getting some fatal/fake vibes from it. It seems like it's a 2D plane.
There really isn't much impact at all, literally and not.
Actually, this is started to look pretty decent. Still not amazing, but it's at least looking lots and lots better than Fatal / FAKE and could actually be pretty good. I do really like the way they did Shirou's Nine Lives Blade Works and Kotomine in general. I lament the lack of Caren, Bazett and Kaleido Ruby though.
Yeah. Still doubt it'll even make a ping on the DoA/Soul Calibur scene, but I am really liking that they seemed to put a lot of thought into making the characters control and combo very differently. Caster is a total ranged lockdown bitch, Rider/Gilgamesh have their chain combos, Rin/Lancer seem to be the air specialists, etc.

It's looking better. Is that the entire cast? This reminds me to check what Actress Again stuff came out of AOU. Blazblue, KOFXII, SF4 and Arcana Hearts 2 have kept me occupied for a bit.
Fatal/Fake Crucis looks pretty good. Graphically not as impressive as this but the tag team system seems fun.
Is the anime worth watching? We have a couple of dvd's at work and I was thinking of watching it.
Meeeeehhhhhh It's decent, but has some really really godawful pacing problems through the first half. It also follows the lamest of the three arcs. The overall theme is Shirou going "durr durr I want to be a hero of justice!" and the Fate arc is basically "and he does!" wheras the other two arcs are more of Shirou actually having to face the consequences of his naivety and learning that the world isn't that nice. Still, they did a pretty good job of that arc... it's just that it's the lamest arc by a long margin and you miss out on almost all of the cool twists and explainations that really make the overally story whole. The pacing through the start is really really really terrible though.

No clue. I haven't really been paying close attention. Blazblue is looking better, though I'm still kind of meh on it. I don't think any substantial Actress Again stuff came out of AOU, but I'm honestly not really expecting -that- much of a change between Cadenza and AA. I am interested in Ries, but I'm guessing that Roa will probably just be sort of an electricity-based Aoko knock-off.
Blazblue while I think it looks great, I hope the rest of the cast is not so familiar. Ragna = not Sol, Jin = not Ky, Tager = not Potemkin. The new girl Noel seems quite unique so I'm fine with that. Well to be fair, Jin isn't so bad either. When the game actually comes out, they'll probably play differently from their GG counterparts but it's still pretty hilarious when you look at Ragna and go "Wait was that Bandit Revolver and Dragon Install?"
As for AA, the addition of Guard meter will produce new guard crush strings, everyone's getting a new move or two I think and some rebalancing most likely. Yeah it's not really much of a change.
I personally think Blazblue so far has a uninspired bunch of characters. It's like they've given the GG cast a different coat of paint. Effects look very purdy though.
Funny how '07 was pretty much devoid of fighters (I think?) and now several big names come rolling through this year :^:

Still sad they haven't taken the leap and added Kara no Kyoukai, Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia's characters into Melty Blood though.

It actually looks kind of lame honestly.

For those who don't know that name, they made Bullet Witch.
Make of that what you will.
