Are there any free utilities for quickly maping...
a local network? A few of the machines on this network aren't using dhcp and I don't want to have to go from machine to machine get their info, especially since I don't feel like driving 30 minutes to get there.
I do have an ibook, I was just hoping to stay here and install something from my remote to do it. I hadn't realized nmap for windows didn't require cygwin anymore, I'll give that a shot. Thanks.

Nmap would be the fastest - but you can crank nessus down to use only 'discovery' plugins and not penetration testing.
If you have a mac, Network Utility already has nmap built in, finder it.
