Running BitComet on Windows Vista

A friend of mine recently bought a new computer that came with Windows Vista as the OS. Long story short, she wanted to use BitComet, so I thought I'd install it for her and show her how to use it.

Then we ran into a problem. Basically, whenever BitComet starts, the torrents never start. And I have no idea why, because I neither have Windows Vista myself nor have ever had problems with BitComet. Any ideas?

    are the ports block and is the windows firewall set up to allow it?

    Her firewall is actually not on at the moment. As for the ports, I really have no idea.

    check the preferences or help file to see what ports it uses by default

    and go to control panel -> windows firewall -> change settings -> Exceptions -> add a port

    and go from there

    get uTorrent. It's better, and it does uPnP (although I don't know whether Bitcomet does that too) which could help solve your problem

    uTorrent is doing the same basic thing, even after adding the port for it into the firewall.
