Hey guys, got yet another question for you all. At work, I'm looking to back up the server data to an external device for redundancy. I called around to Seagate and Western Digital, and both said that they aren't natively supported, which has me worried.
Anyone have any advice? I have some requirements regarding this though:
1. Must be USB external.
2. Price really isn't that much of a object, though I want to spend around 300 USD.
3. Gotta run on Windows 2003 Server 64 Bit Ed.
How many GB of data do you have to backup?
Do you want an external RAID enclosure or just a single external drive?
Have you considered Network Attached Storage?

It's really not much, probably around 10 gigs. However, we could find multiple uses for extra space, so I was thinking around 500-750 gigs.
Just a single drive, RAID'd be nice, but completely unnecessary for what we would be using it for.
We actually have done network attached storage in the past, and it's worked out well. However, I'd rather do it this way so that I can use this in case of a full emergency.
Frylock's right. I know for a fact that external hard drives are plug and play under Windows 2003 Server just like any other OS later than ME. The One Touch style backup software probably isn't supported but will most likely still work. So go ahead and pick up the Seagate one (Seagate drives ALL come with a five year warranty, better warranty than any other drive manufacturer).

The crapup^H^H^Hbackup software made by WD and Seagate might not run, but for the device not to mount?
