Ok, I flipped through the book and I didn't see how to do that. Im assuming I can? Well, I want to get the radio version of Still Alive from the Portal game onto my phone for the ringtone and I have no idea how to do it.

Anyone care to help a pathetic Razr newbie?

EDIT: Ill update here too, Im using the 3guppies site but the music file I want is not a supported. So I need to figure out how to change its type. Any ideas?

Easiest way is to go buy the data cable for the phone and download BitPM. Who's your provider? Razr's are bluetooth capable, but MP3 send/receive command lines are going to be blocked on the phone. Most phones are only capable of sending their vcard (phone book). I'd search Howardforums.com for you and find a better answer for you bluetooth wise, but it's blocked here at work. (I work for a cell phone company, go figure they'd block a website that has detailed instructions on phone hacking)

But seriously, get the cable (find it ebay for 30 dollars less than a store would sell it to you) and download BitPM. It comes with everything you're going to need to not only transfer the song but also cut the length down and change the volume level and compression and mono/stereo settings to match your phone.

depends more on the provider than anything else. tmobile is completely open, while verison is completely closed. for example, my tmob razr mounts as a usb drive. drag mp3s into the music folder. no software, nothing. verison wants you to buy their $30 cable (a usb cable) which comes with software.

there are crackers out there, but you;d have to google it yourself. helps if you use the provider as well as the model number.

Also have a look at mixxer.com (I guess now 3guppies.com, but mixxer.com still goes there). They've got a deal where you can upload a song, use a little flash tool to trim it to the part that you want, and then they will deliver it to your phone all for free. They appear to support Verizon, so if that's who you've got and you have internet on your phone, then this is likely a better choice than the cable.

Just get a cheap min usb cable, I found a used PSP one for 5 bucks. Then get a copy of Motorola Phone Tools. I suggest Motorola Phone Tools for the simple fact you can use it for a LOT of things for the RAZR besides music and it's realllly damn easy to use.

    Awesome, this is perfect.

Now I have a new problem, the file I want is .wav and thats not a supported filetype. So I need to change it to one of these: mp3, wma, m4a/aac, mid, smaf, mel, qcp, awb

    Any ideas?

On windows I use vlc for converting audio and video types. I believe winamp can also do wav to mp3. Should be lots of other options, too.

Ok, but I have no idea how to do that. I've never had to change a file type so I never had to learn.

Motorola PhoneTools. You can use that with a standard USB cable. It will also let you charge your phone with the computer once it's installed.

It's windows, it's designed for people who aren't sure what they're doing to be able to get the job done anyway. You'll be fine.

It looks like winamp pro is the only one that will convert to mp3, so screw that.

For vlc you go file->wizard->transcode/save file and then it walks you through it.

Ok, I tried the VLC thing and couldnt get it to work, luckily my roommate showed me this site:

    http://media-convert.com/

Which will convert just about any sound file into whatever else for free. Then I sent it to my phone with that 3guppies site.

    Thanks for the help guys!
