For the past three days I've been getting sick. It started off with a sore throat the first two days, which disappeared yesterday to be replaced by a strong headache and some nausea. I suspected it was the flu, which was rather unfortunate timing since I have two midterms today. I've gotten an appointment for the makeup for one of them, but the other teacher is requiring me to get tested and get a doctor's note to that effect.
The problem is that today I'm feeling better. I know the flu typically lasts closer to a week and involves quite a bit of vomiting; I've felt close to it yesterday, but it never happened. I'm thus faced with a dilemma: take the midterm and hope I'm not it's not the flu and/or I'm not contagious (it's an 800 person class
), or skip it and take the flu test and take the risk it's really something else I can't get a makeup midterm for, which would basically tank my grade in the class.
Now for my question: Do my symptoms sound like something other than the flu? I'm heading to the doctor's to get tested right after I post this, but I think the results won't get back until after the midterm starts.

It's also possible it's a stomach virus (frequently incorrectly called "the flu" in layman's terms), but if you're not actually throwing up, it's either not that, or an incredibly mild one.
I think I may have been mixing up the symptoms of the flu with those of pneumonia. When I was a kid I was sick for a week with what I thought was the flue and had dizziness and vomiting, etc., but maybe it was the latter instead.
Anyway, guess you can lock this now. Thanks.
