Quick DS Question: Will a Canadian DS play British DS games?
My cousin is over (In Canada) from England, DS's are much cheaper here. She wants to know if games she would buy when she got home would work on it if she bought it here. Anyone know if theres any region locks or anything else that'd get in the way of this working?
I think the only problems are with software interactions. If I buy a Japaneese copy of Advance wars then I might not be able to play multiplayer with someone who bought an American copy.
Also make sure to have her run it for a few days and make sure no dead pixals show up or there arnt any problems as trying to return it from across the lake might be a tad tougher :P
Otherwise yes, the DS is completly region free and is a very good system to buy.
Won't she have a problem charging her DS in England since Canada and England use different plugs and England has higher voltage? I mean, all she would have to do is buy a plug converter for the charger, but that is something she'll have to consider. Also, she'll have to have a power converter to step down the voltage so that she doesn't burn down her house when she charges it in England.
The *DS* unit itself is the same. She just needs to buy a UK DS charger (available from most game stores). It's what I did for my US-bought DS and it's fine.
