buying new 360 for temporary replacement- feasible?
360 broke this summer. couldn't send it from august-oct because i was told it would take up to 6 weeks, and at that point i found out a property developer had purchased my apartment block and we were having our leases cancelled. So i didn't want to send it out, and now i have to travel for a month of 12/16, so that's no good either. i'm sick of not hving a 360, and dont want to not be able to play Halo, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed and all good stuff all of break.
Incidentally, i managed to get the developers to give me some money to move. Enough for a new 360 and then some. I just want to get a core, and then send in the broken one in january (still covered) and sell the refurb. How much money do I stand to lose in this process?

What you should do if you really want to play these games ia buy a core, keep your HDD when you send your other one in.
When your other one comes back, sell that and keep the core and HDD.
Selling a premium will net you slightly more cash even without the HDD.
And new core 360s have HDMI and better reliability in terms of hardware faults, cooling etc.
You probably stand to lose say 100-150 dollars on the whole thing.
Assuming you sell on your other console with some trickery (as in still have the box and cables all neat and whatnot)
Either way, if it was a choice between not playing fall 07 360 games till january or spending that much to play them now Id probably spend the money.
