Alright, so my younger sister asks me today "I want a new game system this Christmas, which one should I get?".
I end up going with the Wii because:
a) she's already got a Gamecube and loves it
b) she's not into those FPS, ultra-violent type games, and the Wii seemed the best option for good games NOT of that type
c) will force my father to deal with waggle on a daily basis, which can only be amusing
So, good call you think?
Anyway, my main question was:
Will it be easy to get a Wii this Christmas?
Where should I be looking?
Any good deals out there? bundles? freebees?
I'm in Toronto, Canada btw, if location is important.
Thanks for the help.
Also, plaster up any Canadian deals you can find. We can make this thread multipurpose.

It won't be easy to get.
You should look at EBGames and Gamestops.
The console is the cheapest of this gen, you cheap bastard.
Btw, this is in Scarborough.

I live in Sudbury, just a few hours north of Toronto, and I see Wiis in Walmart and the Canadian Superstore all the damn time...but with Xmas approaching, I don't know how much longer that will be true.
They have Mario Party 8 and Galaxy bundles on hand at the moment as well as the console itself and if they can get stuff out to me in a week when I live on the opposite side of the world then you should get it pretty quick.
They don't have any deals running, but they have the Wiis in stock if you are struggling to find one.
No sales or the like anywhere though?
Not that I know of. Personally, I'd be more worried about getting a Wii at all than at a reduced price. Not that I want to sound like a dick, but it's already pretty inexpensive (yeah, yeah, I know, why not take a sale if you have the opportunity, I agree, I'm just sayin').
Yeah I know. But I'm a cheap man (ie - a student). Sale > No Sale. But I'll take No Sale if it's the only option.
Considering how the damn things selling I didn't think there was really any chance of sales or bundles.
Same, the Zellers I'm at sells out fairly quickly. But I see them all the time at the Wal-Mart super centre in Scarborough.
What? First time I've heard of Wii's in Barrie since I saw one in May at the TRU. Something must have changed in the last few months.
Anyways, like everyone else recommended, Zellers is probably the most likely place to find some, since it's not the first place people think for games. Start making calls every day though, as they're gonna be harder and harder to find in the next few weeks.
Prices seem all over the board, though. Wii was $269, Wii Play $59... they seemed to be charging over or under MSRP on some DS games. I think New SMB was cheaper than most places by five bucks, and Mario Kart DS was more.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!
Honestly, though, I echo the "buy it now" crowd. I bought two Wiis on launch weekend last year (on seperate occassions) and I see them in stores all the time, but they are always just a couple units left, and usually sell-out while i'm there. As long as you are willing to make the phone calls, and able to pick it up as soon as you see it, you shouldn't have any trouble.
What? It is. This is the time where we forget our differences about some store policies, Evander, and sing Carols together on the street.
