Online Shopping For Canada Problem

Can anyone help me, a member of my family is off to Canada for christmas and I'd like to send her a gift or two.

Instead of buying something here and posting it out i was hoping to buy it online but I cant find a good place to get gifts in canada other then amazon.ca

Anyone got some good suggestions for general gift sites, comedy socks, whisky, food, general christmas junk and the like. All the US sites that ive found charge a fortune to send to CA for some reason.

Any help?

    You could try Chapters.Ca

US retailers still seem to be in the stone ages when it comes to selling online to Canada. You'd never know we share the world's longest border and are each other's number one or two trade partner by the number of places that charge huge money to ship here, or don't ship here at all, like Newegg.

Chapters is your basic big box book store (most with a starbucks in them) in Canada, that usually has some gift stuff in it. May not be much more helpful than Amazon.ca. If computer/tech stuff is appropriate, NCIX.com is one the major Canadian online retailers.

For Whisky, it may differ from province to province as Liquor laws vary, and I'm not sure whether or not you can buy booze online here or not.

Where is your relative living? With that info, we may be able to find local chains, like grocery stores (some are national in Canada, but many are regional) that may have web purchase options.

Yes indeed. Its very close. Maybe an hour or two driving time depending on the notoriously bad highway from here to there.

London Drugs is a Western Canadian chain that I like alot, they have food, electronics, cameras, appliances, everything you'd go to a drug store for, etc. Looks like you can buy online from them, so that may be an option. You'll have to investigate the shipping options and things.

You won't find whiskey though, since only government liquour stores and beer and wine stores are allowed to sell booze in BC. I'm looking at some grocery store chains, but none of their sites seem to have web purchase capabilities.

One other idea, if your relative is into outdoors stuff, is to look at Mountain Equipment Co-Op.
