I sort of goofed up by bundling (no pun intended) this question with another in the technology subforum before realizing that this half of the question will get better exposure and is better suited in the overall G&T forum. I'll pretty much c&p since, as I said, I just now realized that my question is misplaced... but still a valid question.
Query: How much do you think I could get selling my Xbox 360 (pro, old cpu/heatsink, purchased in July, never had any problems, freezes, rings etc.) with included wireless controller, additional wired controller, and CoD4, Mass Effect, and Assassin's Creed- all played but in great condition, no scratches, w/ original case and manual? I've searched around Ebay for a while but it seems like they're selling console only or console with a bunch of older games. I've got the console and three new games so I'm wondering if any of you could tell me what someone like you would pay.
And as I said in the subforum, I'd be willing to skim something off the price if a PA member chose to throw me an offer. If that particular addendum is rude or unsightly, though, I can edit it out. I'm just kind of averse to Ebay and I think it'd be cool to somewhat help out a PAer if I can.

For sure. Probably the total value on those things is probably somewhere around 475, but if you tried to sell them all together on ebay I doubt you'd get it.
What's the standard procedure for something like that? Meet in person, cash? I've browsed craigslist before (for an apartment) but don't know the standard modus operandi for item transactions.
You really can't go wrong with "meet in person, cash".
As far as my personal opinion...well, whether you've had problems yet or not, if I'm buying a used 360 it'd better be 1) demonstrated before my very eyes to be functional and 2) deeply discounted since I fully expect it to crap out at some point. Personally I probably wouldn't pay more than about $175 tops for a used 360 of any flavor, but that's just me.
That will guy you a good value estimate.
that's true, as long as you're smart about it. Meet in a neutral area and don't meet the person alone. You can never be quite sure what'll happen. Unlikely as it is, there's always the posibility that it'll go from "meet in person, cash" to "meet in person, hacksaw"
Really? Ugh, I was hoping for at least $250 for the console so that the whole package would top between 350 and 400.
I think its a 3 year warranty from date of manufacture on console
My understanding is that any Xbox 360 that hasn't been refurbed or blacklisted for modifications or anything can very simply have its warranty honored up to three years from date of manufacture.
2009 is a year of Updates - one every Monday. Hopefully. xx
Also for those thinking of buying second hand 360: check if its banned from Live.

I also second Craigslist as your best bet. You can also put a link in your sig here or just advertise that you are selling it in your sig.
I do not agree that "meet in person, cash" "really can't go wrong," though. You should definitely be cautious.
I'm not gonna' lie and say I know for sure. I haven't researched it extensively, but I did look around the net for an hour or so. This was essentially what I discovered: all consoles in the US are honored for warranty. If it's the three rings, ownership is irrelevant- in fact, I have actually heard some complaints that people wish MS would investigate ownership even more in these cases because it leaves open a wide avenue for theft and the repair of stolen objects.
I read the initial press release from MS announcing the warranty and I've browsed several forums and discussion boards; the overwhelming response I've seen is that if your console has not been tampered with and if it's getting the three rings, it will be fixed for free in 4-6 weeks by MS- often with a refurb, sometimes with a new console.
If anyone here on PA is seriously considering this though I will get on the phone with Microsoft ASAP to clarify the parameters of the warranty. My intent isn't to screw anyone over so I'm receptive to any ideas people have for making the transaction painless and worry-free for both parties.
