I need to site this, all great and dandy right? Well the problem I am having is that I used an essay from this book from pages 203 to 209 by Gmelch. I don't know how to cite this in the paper or on my works cited page. Thanks in advance guys.
Which system do you use (APA, Chicago, etc?). If APA, the example for 'reference to article in an edited book' in the publication manual is:
Bjork, R. A. (1989). Retrieval inhibition as an adaptive mechanism in human memory. In H. L. Roediger III & F. I. M. Craik (Eds.), Varieties of memory & consciousness (pp.309-330). Hillsdale, NJ: Erlbaum.
That's assuming an essay in a compilation of essays counts as an article in an edited book. In your paper you'd cite Bjork (1989) for this example.
Acolyte57 on
101 little bugs in the file / 101 little bugs / take one out and recompile / 102 little bugs in the file
You want to use the "work in an anthology, reference or collection" style citation since you're citing from the chapter/article within an edited volume. See an example here about half way down the page: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/557/07/

tl;dr version:
Lastname, First name. "Title of Essay." Title of Collection. Ed. Editor's Name(s). Place of Publication: Publisher, Year. Pages.
