Everyone’s Nintendo Channel

It just launched in japan. I figured it would be kind of a barebones type of service but nintendo isn't fucking around with this thing.

check it out over [here

basically, the new channel serves to give you a bunch of information concerning games, both upcoming and already in stores. There are also trailers as well as interviews available for viewing.

And best of all, the thing launches with a DS demo feature (though the ones currently offered all seem to suck).

Wake me when I can download it in the US.

I want this so badly I would kill a man in front of his own mother.

But it is not to be. Not yet.

Yeah, as soon as I saw the video interview of Miyamoto himself, I pretty much knew we'll never get this in America. It's too awesome, so we'll never see it.

Either that or we'll just get a cut version that only has the game info bit.

Can... can you tell I'm a pessimist? :)

Well the demos are the main thing, there's plenty of video game related content on the world wide web.

Do we even know vaguely what kind of direction they are taking with that? I mean, something like a 2D scrolling mashup of Megaman X, Prince of Persia and Shinobi could be fantastic, but I don't know what they'll do.

Which is why I want a demo. I won't be owning a PS3 ever and I won't be owning a 360 until I can get a unit with a HDD for around $200 so I'd like to play some form of the game.

I thought a DS demo channel was confirmed by Nintendo earlier this year in an E3-like event for sometime in (first-half?) 2008. Did I miss something?

No, it's definitely coming. Maybe we won't have the Miyamoto interview, but then again they have been pretty good about translating stuff recently.

    WANT!

To download anything from my Wii to my DS seems so....magical. Of course, now we need some form of DS storage medium.

EDIT to add: Finally a channel worth downloading. Everybody Votes Channel? I tired keeping up with that for a while, and then finally realized what a huge waste of time it was. I am answering whether Canadians say "sorry" or "eh" more often? Really? Who the fuck cares?

You know, something occurs to me. Wii Ware will allow us to download original games for the Wii. The Wii is able to transmit demos to the DS. Couldn't we download small games to the DS? Like sell a complete DS game over Wii Ware which you would then send to your DS. You'd have to keep your DS on the whole time you're playing it, but that's not a tremendous challenge. And you could re-send it if you want to play it again.

This feature seems like a no brainer. Maybe we'll even get a portable Virtual Console, with old school Gameboy or Game and Watch games getting the treatment.

I don't know, not being able to turn off the DS doesn't make it seem very desirable or practical. I could be alone on this, though.

Wow. Watching the video.... Made me realize how much of a Nintendo Fanboy I am. How? I got chills hearing Miyamoto speak... Haha, it's like hearing God talk to you.

EDIT: I love the idea of seeing all the release dates for the future games and stuff. Wow that's awesome.

    This is awesome.

It would be so much MORE awesome if any of Nintendo's products had any non-negligible ammount of goddamn storage space.

I like this channel and hope it comes to the US at some point.

While checking Wikipedia to see if Everybody's Nintendo would be coming to the US, I saw this:

"TV Program Guide Channel allows one to check what programs are on television. Content will be provided by G-Guide and is set to launch in March 2008 in Japan and May 2008 in North America. The Channel is said to be 'very fun and Nintendo-esque'."

Looks like there's a lot that can be done with channels, and I'm glad more is being done with them.
