Sorry for the urgency, but i am leaving in a few minutes and need to know what to do.

My chest is fucking KILLING me. Moreso on the right side of me...right below my collar bone. It has been hurting literally all night (got hardly any sleep) and is continuing to hurt now. It doesnt hurt on the surface, but rather deep inside.

I dont smoke or drink or anything and it wasnt anything i ate last night. I am very healthy with no medical conditions.

my question: worth dropping the 20 bucks for co-pay and have a doctor just tell me to "take advil and go to sleep" or

grab some medicine from the drug store and knock myself out?

If your chest hurts that bad go to the doctor.

It could also be just gas or something worse. Does it hurt when you take in a breath? Thats usually a dead giveaway that its gas (for me anyway).

Since you don't have a fucking clue what the cause is, how are you going to know what medicine to take?

    Doctor. Now.

Yes, go to the docs even though it's raining out. ;)

Agreed, it sounds like youve either strained the muscles on that side, or youve managed to knock one of your ribs loose. Since it doesn't hurt when you breathe, you don't have to worry about a lung puncture - but these things can become aggravated pretty quickly. fork the 20$, these can turn bad quickly. Chest pains= doubleplus ungood.

Chest pains are worth seeing a doctor over, but there's a very good chance he's going to tell you it's a pleuracy (sp?), which is what happens when you pull or strain the muscles around your lungs. It hurts like hell for a couple of days and then goes away.

There's a chance it could be something called costochondritis, which is inflammation of the cartilege in your ribs. Sometimes happens in sports, of if you've done anything strenuous. I have it, as a result of heavy lifting taking stuff to my new apartment. Doctor told me to ice it and take ibuprofen, but it doesn't go away easily. If you can sort of pop your sternum like you can crack your knuckles, that's costochondritis. And yes, it can hurt when moving your right arm.

However, the best option is to go to the doctor so you know for sure and make sure it's nothing really bad.

    yup, was a muscle problem.

Evidentally i slept with my arm putting a lot of strain on my chest. Pain killers + sleep subdued it.

Wow, rib problems? i wouldnt have expected that, haha. that shit is pretty scary. Anyway, glad it wasnt anything bad. i *hate* doctors.....which is why i needed pursuasion.

I also hate going to the doctor. ugh... I wait until something explodes until I go (for the most part... hasn't actually happened yet but you get my point)
