Move over Mario Kart! It's Cruis'n!

I struggle to believe this game has yet to get a mention on here. It's the next in the series by Midway who made the brilliant Cruis'n USA which I remember fondly from my childhood. Upgradable cars, stunts and an innovative use of the Wii controller.

It features fantastic graphics (especially for the Wii), awesome physics and stunning weather effects! A brilliant departure and proof of point that the wii doesn't just get shoddy ports. For some reason screenshots are hard to find but I did manage to track down these which justifiably show a game which can almost graphically compare to PGR4. Sadly though, being on the Wii, it would benefit from being in HD.

Screenshots behind spoiler to keep the op tidy.

Has anyone else picked it up? I've yet to get it but I was hoping it had Online play so we could turn this in to a Game On.

Have the standards for fantastic graphics been lowered while I was sleeping last night? It might be a good game but those are not fantastic graphics.

Ah these are the same lovely screens we all laughed at last time.
Except of course, actually the shots and not even blurrier magazine scans. Though they did actually look better as a magazine scan.

The screenshots are taken by a kind soul on a different forum I believe through a capture card. Except the last one, that's a classically bad one.

And yes, it was sarcasm but the game IS actually out now and I was wondering if anyone was actually daft enough to buy it.

Technically the sign is right, as the two signs are perpendicular to each other. Thus, the Do not enter represents the direction opposite of the one way.

    It's a horrible angle, though.

Yeah it kinda looks like Need for Speed 3 but with reflections turned off.

The only thing I liked about Cruis'n series was the voice that said "CHECKPOINT" and I say it in that same way when ever any other game has a checkpoint.

Man, this game is so fun you guys.

I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to keep the red blurry thing on the gray blurry thing. There are other colored blurry things, I think I'm supposed to beat them to the blurry black and white thing.

The one thing I've noticed is that occasionaly, while playing, bits of food that I've previously eaten seem to be coming back up into my mouth, but a bib solved that quickly enough.

Overall, 10/10. Best blurry thing simulation I've ever played.

Those shots cannot be anywhere near recent. I refuse to believe any company would release a game that looks that shitty, when it really wouldn't take much to at least clean them up a tad. Hell, it probably takes more work to make things look that bad than it does to smooth some things over.

I've always had a fun couple of days rental with the past Cruisin titles. I'm definitely gonna give it a try. I hope it looks better than those shots indicate. There has got to be some newer ones.

I used to really enjoy the Cruis'n games. Cruis'n USA and Cruis'n World are two of my favorite Arcade racers, and I'd buy the 64 versions if Nintendo put them on the VC. A friend of mine and I used to play them constantly.

This on the other hand, looks like some bad budget title made by high schoolers who don't know how to code.

The bottom screenshot there is not recent. The top three were taken with a capture card from the retail release.

This looks like a mediocre PSP game. What the shit are these people doing? Hey, you want to know why third party games sell like shit on Nintendo's systems? Here's why.

Daedalus, you are probably right, especially since the game used a great deal of sprite art which tends to age a little better than the 3D of that era.

Alright, now I want USA on VC.

In fact, Midway probably would have been better off releasing a compilation disc of the past games than this new one, given all the heat it's taking.

Its december, and theres a huge influx of these kinds of titles for the wii, I was in wallmart the other day and my eyes burned them out of the sockets at the images for 5-6 titles that literally looked like n64 titles with waggle controlls. This includes a WWII shooter game that *I shit you not* looked like wolfenstien 3d, and this is by the 10x10pixels pictures on the back of the box.
