Reccomend some PSP games?

I'm getting a PSP for christmas (probably the Silver bundle!) since there are a few games now that I really want to warrant having one. Mainly the new FF:Tactics, and maybe the FF remakes, as well as the upcoming FF: Dissidia and FFVII: Crisis Core. I really like the FF Spinoffs :) There's also Maverick Hunter X that I really like.

Just wondering what other non-FF and non-console ports I should look into.

Do not feel trapped by the need to achieve anything, this way you achieve everything.

Oh, hey I'm making a game! Check it out: Dr. Weirdo!

Ah, the PSP... what a dissapointment that was. I bought it near launch because I wanted a portable Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy. 2 years later, and we -finally- have MGS and FF, but GT has been cancelled "because we'd rather work on GT5". Grrr. Sorry, just needed to vent.

However, games that I did love to waste time with on my (now entirely ignored) PSP:
    Prince of Persia Rival Swords
Loco Roco (this game is pure genius. Just don't show it to your girlfriend. You'll never get your PSP back)
    Jean of Arc
    Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
    Afterburn (oldschool!)
    Burnout (pick any variant)

I'll second MGS: PO and Jeanne d'Arc, both awesome games.

    Further, I'll recommend:
    Warhammer 40K: Squad Tactics
Syphon Filter (both of them, best shooter controls I've seen on the PSP)
    Killzone: Liberation
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (extremely good adaptation of the first 3 PS2 games)
Daxter (also a good adaptation of a franchise)
    Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness

You absolutely need FF Tactics. Be warned that it has framerate issues, but the redone CGI cutscenes alone make it worth playing through. If you haven't played through them already, the FF remakes are also worth it.

If you also have a PS3, there are some awesome PS1 titles available on PSN. Namely, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (everyone needs this), Midevil, and Crash Bandicoot. All playable on PSP, and worth it IMO.

Depending on your tastes, SOCOM: Fire Team Bravo 1 & 2 are pretty good shooters. They play very much like SOCOM 1 with less squad dependence. (Also they have pretty solid online play with headset support if you're into that sort of thing)

    MGS:PO
    Killzone: Liberation
    Daxter
    R+C Size Matters
    Disgaea
    Jeanne D'Arc
    Guitaroo man
    Star Wars Battlefront: RS
    Castlevania
    GTA: Liberty City Stories
    Syphon Filter
    Lumines

And even though I'm the only person who likes the game and I do love it: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. PSP version may be the best one.

PSP store is up for computers too now. I don't have the address on me, but you can do this from a PC or I believe possibly just from the PSP.

You can also get Symphony of the Night on PSP through the Castlevania: Dracula X game that just came out; it's on there as an unlockable.

If you don't mind imports and if you enjoy music games, I love DJ Max. Beyond that, FFT, Disgaea, Castlevania, all solid.

Lumines is good if you like puzzles and/or music.

I haven't been able to get this working properly. :|

Lumines, eh? Man, I can't seem to find this anywhere. Can't even rent it. I wonder why...
Boy, sure wish I had a copy....yeap...I sure could do a lot of stuff with that one.
Anybody want to let me borrow it? I just wanna play it for a lil bit...

Jeanne D'arc is an amazing game and very cheap. I like it a lot and I'm sure you will too if you're into FF: Tactics or turn based strategy games in general.

It's supposedly out of print. Amazon.com still has II for $19.99, last I checked.

I went on a quest for it myself when I finally got a PSP, and it is gone from stores.

Do the FF Remakes actually change aspects of the gameplay? Like the aspects that made the first game brutally hard?

Definitely Disgaea. I bought that and FFT and I have barely been able to touch FFT, yet I cannot put down Disgaea.

Although... I have previously beaten FFT like ten times... might have something to do with it.

FF1 uses mana points instead of spell slots. So yes, it's a lot easier.
