Its about 5-6 years old, and it was working fine for all those years.
I power it up to play some Halo, and I see horizontal lines (alternating dark and light) distorting the image. Its not to an extreme to where I can't play, but its really annoying. Is there something interfering with the connection?
Also, the lines aren't in a set place; they are constantly moving up and down the screen at different speeds.

Umm, I'm not really sure what the device is called, but it accepts input from three or four things (My xbox, my xbox 360, my dvd player), and then sends that to the TV with one cord.

Could be a receiver or a switch of sorts. I suggest ruling out the XBOX by plugging it directly to the TV. If there is no lines it could be receiver or the cable to the TV from the XBOX. This is called troubleshooting.
