I’m attempting to find a Christmas present for my friend Ilene. The last time I talked to her, she was lamenting how she really misses the old
Babar* cartoon, and how she wishes she had it on video somewhere. So, I thought that I’d just go to my nearest ABC store (since they were the station that aired it in Australia) and buy it for her on DVD. “How hard could it be to find?†I thought.
In fact, Babar has proven to be quite elusive. When searching several stores proved fruitless, I decided to Google all the permutations I could think of for “Babarâ€, “Babar DVDsâ€, “Babar original seriesâ€, etc…with no real results. The best I could find was some 75th anniversary special which Ilene already has, and assures me isn’t very good.
I’m not even sure if there actually
are DVDs of the original series, but I’m pretty sure there are, or were, VHS cassettes. Either will suffice for my purposes, I just need to actually find them. Before Christmas. If anyone has any idea where else to start looking, please tell me because I am absolutely stumped at this point. Online stores are fine, but eBay is not – call me old fashioned, but I don’t trust it. Any help with this will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Nechriah
*For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about,
Babar was a cartoon detailing the magical adventures of an anthropomorphic elephant (named Babar) in a green suit. Also,
