Really long ass time ago: The universe is created. This has caused a lot of frustration and has been widely regarded as a bad move.
Somewhat less long time ago: God hides dinosaur bones everywhere.
Still kind of a long time ago: Mankind emerges in Africa. This is the last time significant influence over world affairs will be wielded there.
30,000 BC: Japan first populated. Nothing ever goes quite right there ever again.
Year 1, or thereabouts: Tons of people start claiming to be the son of God. One gets believed.
8th century AD: Vikings start beating the everloving shit out of everyone and everything and don't stop for a long time.
1660s: Issac Newton creates gravity. Walking made significantly easier.
1776: Benjamin Franklin invents America. This is later deemed his second manliest invention, after Lightning.
1858: Teddy Roosevelt born. Universe becomes tangibly more badass.
1934: Adolf Hitler comes to power in Germany. Enacts Godwin's law.
1969: Hippies 'n' Shit.
1985: ThatDudeOverThere born. This event will forever change history.
2007: History is changed forever as ThatDudeOverThere realizes his destiny: starting a shitty history thread.
