So, My Wii has been running fine for like 9 months, but today I turn it on and find that the disk drive makes a buzzing sound when it gets up to speed. It's quiet enough that if the game playing has sound on, I can't hear it, but is very noticeable if there's no major sound source.
It does it with any disk, but doesn't have any adverse effects on the disks, and everything runs like normal. Changing to horizontal doesn't change anything. I have moved the Wii with a disk inside, but never when turned on.
Should I call Nintendo, or wait until something bad happens?
i would call Nintendo, especially if you are still within your one year warranty period. it doesn't hurt to check, and at worst you'll need to send your system in and not have it for about a week and a half.

I have the exact same issue. Just give them a call and get it fixed. Their customer support is top notch and will help you with whatever you need. I haven't sent mine in yet, but I had 90 days from November to send it in... So I may just end up shipping it off in January.
It seems like it's the CD-ROM that needs to be screwed in a little tighter, as it probably worked its way out. Supposedly takes about 7-10 days for them to fix it, but that's shipping there and back so it might be faster for you.

Send it in...eventually you'll start having gameplay problems if it has started making weird noises. Also, it will re-set your warranty for another year! :-)
Thanks guys, I'll give them a call and send it in at the end of winter break, cause I don't want to be without a Wii for the next two weeks, and I'm sure it'll be okay for that long.
