Gooey Bomb: The Gooey Bomb acts as a sticky Remote Mine. While stuck to a character, it can be passed back after making contact with another player.
item01_070524c.jpgitem01_070524e.jpg

Cracker Launcher: This projectile launcher isn't as racist as it sounds. It shoots out rapid-fire blasts and can be aimed up and down while running.

Banana Peel: Because clichés work. This item doesn't do much other than tripping an opponent.

Smoke Ball: This item deals no damage, but rather actually just blinds the player from the screen. It shoots out rainbow-colored gas.
item07_070806b.jpgitem07_070806d.jpg

Franklin Badge: Debuting from the Mother Series (Earthbound), it attaches to a player's chest and is basically an automatic reflector.

Spicy Curry: When a Fire Flower just can't suit your flaming needs, eating this will make your player constantly spew out flames.

Golden Hammer: A coat of paint works wonders, this hammer is flung around at crazy speeds and can let you hover. Occassionally it is a worthless squeaky hammer.
item10_070917b.jpgitem10_070917c.jpg

Smart Bomb: From the Starfox series, this bomb creates a massive explosion when thrown.
item12_071120b.jpgitem12_071120d.jpg

Series Represented
So far, we've been given a list of series that have been represented, but as we get this list, its come to us out of order. We currently have gaps as shown:

ssbbyq9.png
1. Smash Brothers
2. Donkey Kong
3. StarFox
4. Kirby
5. F-Zero
6. Metroid
7. EarthBound/Mother
8. Pokemon
9. Zelda
10. Mario
11. Yoshi
12. Fire Emblem
13. ???
14. Ice Climbers
15. Animal Crossing
16. Wario
17. Metal Gear
18. Kid Icarus
19. ???
20. Sonic the Hedgehog
21. Nintendo DS

*21 Is the highest number we're aware of, it in no way indicates that it is the final number

It seems that icons at least require a stage to exist, so just because an icon is out there doesn't nessecarily mean there's going to be a character featuring it.

    Forumer Contributions:

This section of the opening post will be dedicated to any forumer contributions made to this thread by way of creating something that will be helpful for organizing online play, the setup thereof, or sharing pertinent information such as user names and friend codes. In addition to this, there is now a portion explaining more advanced Smash terminology as well.

The Penny Arcade Super Smash Brothers Brawl Online Tournament List!
This is all organized courtesy of Nickle. It is planned to take place a week or two after the game comes out so people have a chance to practice. There are still plenty of spots available here if you want to sign up.

Here is the tournament list, which is more of a placeholder than anything else. People will have to reconfirm their desire to take part in the tournament when it arrives.
PM Nickle if you want to take part in this, there is no limit to how many users can join. Let's see if we can get this up to 128. Include your state (America) or province (Canada) please.

    Smash Brothers Community Terminology

This is a very thorough look at advanced Smash terms to help end confusion about them. ChopperDave wrote it and has this to say:
Whew, that took way longer than I thought it would

I wrote the first part of this guide myself, hopefully it does a decent enough job describing some of the most-confused terms. The other, lesser important terms I just lifted from a thread in Smashboards.

It's...long, so I've split it up over two posts. The first part is all most of you will want to read, anyway, the second part (from Smashboards) has got a lot of specific, kind of unnecessary terms. I deleted some of the MOST superfluous ones (BYOC = bring your own controller, for example ), but for the most part it remains intact. By the way, if there's any terms I forgot to add or didn't describe effeciently, please let me know.

    Without further ado...:
Here are Part 1 and Part 2 of the guide.

Here is something that could be considered Part 3 of the Smash Bros Terminology. It goes over common misconceptions about tournament players and seeks to help end the SmashBoards versus casual play arguments which always seem to pop up in these threads. Everyone should take a look at these discussions:

    Flash-based replica Brawl Stage Editor

This is a really cool page designed by mntorankusu, based around the Stage Creator update on the dojo. Here are some instructions and information.
Hold Ctrl and roll over the grid to quickly select squares. Hold Shift to quickly deselect.

This is a fan-made stage editor based on the one in the upcoming game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Little is known about the in-game editor, so I don't make any guarantees that this one will produce stages anything like the real game. If there are any glaring inaccuracies, contact me at mntorankusu at gmail dot com.

Also, you probably shouldn't let things overlap the wide triangle piece if you want to be able to reproduce your stage in the game. It is too difficult to disallow it in this Flash editor, but I'm fairly certain you won't be able to overlap pieces in Brawl's.

You might not be able to rotate them in Brawl either. D: Try not to be too disappointed if it turns out the stages you create using the rotate feature can't be reproduced in Brawl.

Click here to play it. Here is an example of what you can do.

Customizable signatures that display user names and friend codes.

Here is something that mntorankusu and Geod have been working on, which will allow people to easily put their favorite character and friend code in a fancy signature to help organize things once the game comes out. It allows you to choose your name, character, icon, friend code, and color of character. This is what they look like:

    Um.

We haven't speculated because the CDs were in an update a while back. The rarity wasn't discussed, but that's basically what they are, they allow you to add music to choose from when playing on a stage. So a stage starts with a 100% chance to play one song, but you pick up a CD for that stage, and you can adjust the % chance that one song or another will be chosen on that stage.

I'm still hoping that they're putting a character editor into this. With the supposed removal of clones, letting people make their own would be a nifty addition. If Ganondorf gets a new moveset, you could make Captain Falcon play similar to Melee 'Dorf. Being able to tailor any character to your play style would be nice. At the very least they should have custom color swaps for characters like Soul Calibur 3.

Anyone think there is a chance of a Luma assist trophy? I'm not quite sure what it would do, but there's gotta be something galaxy related in this game. I just know I would be distracted by how damn cute those things are.

Technically, the stage the CD is on doesn't matter, since ANY song can be played on ANY stage. If I had to guess, the track unlocked is completely random.

    Fine, here's a man card.

I'd like to see Rosalina as a playable character.

B - Fires a quick burst of Star Bits that can stun other players temporarily. Chargeable to fire more Star Bits.
Forward B - Throws a Luma at an enemy that does minimal damage, but can be fed with a charged star bit attack to turn it into a star that rolls off the stage setting people on fire.
Down B - Luma assisted spin attack.
Up B - A Luma turns into a launch star to give her some vertical recovery.

We haven't speculated because the CDs were in an update a while back. I'm not so sure about that, dude. The My Music update only talks about songs as pertaining to each universe. Also there's the fact that every screenshot of My Music selections has music from the same game series for a particular stage.

Or she can stand in one place while you do all the work like she did in Galaxy. Rosalina is just Peach with an emo-ish haircut and a dead mother. I'd much rather see a good character added in.

    The Pokemon look ugly. Fuck.

Come on, what do you expect? Not only is an individual pokemon hardly worth the effort of making a high-quality model, but that would just impact performance for an improvement that no one is ever going to notice in-game.

If you don't set any song to be more likely than another song on any stage, isn't every song equally likely to appear?

That is, if everything is just set to "random," that doesn't mean that the Mario theme will be playing on a Zelda stage, just that any Mario song is as likely to appear on a Mario stage as any Zelda song is to appear on a Zelda stage.

I just think you're pulling a lot from that quote, and I think the screenshots would indicate that you could play Live and Learn or whatever on an Ice Climbers stage if you could.

Yeah, I agree. It definitely looks like there are themed songs dedicated to levels of the same theme. I just assumed that you can make every Mario song equally likely to appear whenever you hit up Peach's Castle or whatever.

Dealing with a ginormous song list for every level would be such a hassle.

I would assume that there are a few songs per stage given a default likelihood of appearing (usually in-universe songs- Mario for Mario, etc.) and everything else is preset to zero. If you want the MetaKnight them on PictoChat, go ahead, but you'd have to set that yourself.
