UPDATE: Changes to the plan! I'll contact you all shortly. I'm going to try for Friday instead of Sunday due to showtime conflicts with some of our attendees (namely myself and VoC)

This thread is for those interested in going to see I am Legend on opening weekend at the IMAX theater in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Due to scheduling that will best serve as many people as possible the current planned date is going to be Friday, December 14th and in the evening.

The theater is on MA Route 9 in the Framingham/Natick area across from the Natick Mall and Shopper's World at the Jordan's Furniture store.

If what I have been hearing is indeed true, we should be getting a very significant first look at the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight" featuring some sneak-peeks at the new Joker.

So far it is just myself and my girlfriend Sarah (VisionOfClarity) attending and I will update this as more people can give me a definite go on it.

Going:
Kantankeris
VisionOfClarity
Fightinfillipino
The Otaku Inquisition
Javen
(definite "maybe")
Irond Will

DETAILS
I will be leaving Fanuiel Hall Marketplace in Boston with Sarah at sometime around 7:40. The actual showtime is 9:50pm so there is a good chance I'll be across the street getting some last-minute Christmas shopping done at the Natick Mall (if you haven't been recently, it's a MASSIVE complex of mostly-fancy stores now). Feel free to meet up with us there if you're early like we will be.

In summary:
Place - Framingham, MA - Jordan's Furniture IMAX
Time - 9:50pm

Be there or be someplace else!

*confirmed attending
*canceld

Ah good ol' Jordan's Furniture. Though isn't the one in Reading closer? It's like 3 miles north of Medford. If I had a car, I'd prolly go. Unless carpooling is involved.

Well I'm in Millis, which is 20 minutes (give or take) from Framingham, yet at least 45 minutes to Boston. Sarah's place (where I'll be leaving from) is right on the edge of Boston and, like me, roughly 20-30 minutes from Framingham.

I've never been to the one in Reading nor do I know a quick route to get there. If this is the only way you can go I don't mind trying to re-organize and re-plan to fit as many PAers in as possible.

edit: Okay so Reading is actually 20 minutes away from Sarah's work so that's not bad at all.

well, i don't know if they'd use the book's "twist ending".

on the one hand, Hollywood loves that shit, almost too much.

on the other hand, i can't see Will Smith going along willingly with it.

The one in Reading is like a fucking Disney world with musical fountains and all sorts of shit. JUST FOR A FURNITURE STORE. It's mad crazy. Also, about what time would be doing this because incidentally enough I have a party at a prof's house wherein I also turn in my paper odd as it may be to have a paper due on a Sunday.

Framingham is about a 30 minute drive for me (googlemaps says 39 but I drive fast) meanwhile reading is probably 20.

So, in short, I don't really have any preference.

The one in Framingham is done up like New Orleans (sans floodwaters), specifically Burbon St. during Marti Gras. It also has a Kelly's Roast Beef restaurant in addition to the IMAX. They do make you walk through the store and look at their 'wold-famous underprices' to get to the theater though.

Before Barry and Elliot took over the franchise, it used to be just another furniture store. Those guys are business geniuses.

I'm departing from the Faneuil Hall area sometime around 7-7:30pm after picking Sarah up from work.
I plan on hitting Rt. 9 to get back towards Framingham. This takes me down all of Comm Ave if you wanted a ride.

I noticed in a trailer that Will Smith was adressed as "Doctor" and he was talking about finding a cure. That's totally more Omega Man than the book.

In Last Man on Earth he was also a doctor/scientist, whose job at the time of the outbreak was to find a cure for the disease.
Which in the end was his blood.

Now, though, Will Smith is a family man, dog owner, doctor and decorated soldier. He's the ultimate survivor. This setting also looks infinitely more interesting to today's audience than some nameless suburban residential area.

kind of out of the way? I'm willing to change it if we have enough votes but I think there are a few others here who live west of Boston who can get to Framingham more-easily. As it turns out, it's going to be quicker for me to get to Reading too, since I will be leaving from Boston but I figure since Framingham is on Rt. 9, 135, 30, the Mass Pike and not far from 495, I'd stick with that. It's only an extra 10-15 minutes for me either way.

Like I said before, I'm leaving from Fanueil Hall Marketplace so if someone needs a ride (my car seats 4 comfortably, 5 uncomfortably) I can provide, but you might just get dropped off at some random B-Line location at the end of the night.
