I need to find a laptop for my sister.

The requirements are thus;

802.11g network card
Can run a web browser
Is very very inexpensive

Where's my best shopping avenue? what's the least I can get away with spending?

it should probably be a windows machine for the sake of she's not tech savvy at all and I don't want her to be confused by linux.

    Acer makes some pretty damn decent/cheap little laptops.

    Also, check around newegg for a good deal. You could also look into eBay for an old iBook or something; I know you said windows machine, but, man, OS X shouldn't be a stretch for her to pick up.

    Alternatively, there's always the Asus eee pc, which is cheap and supposed to have a really shallow learning curve.

    But, for your requirements, I'd check out Acer for new, or craigslist/ebay if you are tech savvy enough to clean up a laptop before giving it to her.

    If you have facebook, check the marketplace. I always see a couple laptops on there for very good prices. Ask to see it in person first, of course.

    Acer seemed to have the best deals a few months ago. Avoid super-cheap laptops, the extra few pounds really makes quite a big difference (Celeron + 512mb vs Core 2 + 1gb).

    No linux? D: Was going to say the Asus EEE is super cheap and would meet all the other requirements.

    Get her a refurb iBook. Especially if she's a student. Discounts are HUGE.
