So my laptop charger usually outputs in 19.5 V, unfortunately my charger broke. The universal charger I'm looking at getting as a replacement runs at a choice of 17, 18, 19 or 20 V. If I have my new charger outputting at 19 V but my computer is supposed to have 19.5V, is there any difference in performance, or is it small enough to not really matter?
You're probably safe at 19 or 20v, but I'd stick with 19. Many adapters vary ~5% from their stated voltage anyway, so I wouldn't be surprised if the 19v setting actually puts out 19.5 volts already.
The more important factor is the wattage, make sure the replacement adapter is rated equal to or slightly more than the wattage requirement of the notebook.
